Taking into account Elud Kipchoge just recently run 105x400m at 1'08 (68'') with no rest, maybe a 60x400m interval at 63'' is not that difficult.
In any case, as far as I can remember, the pace faded dramatically as the workout advanced. And with jogging not timed recoveries you can rest as long as slow you can jog. And it's fiction.
In any case, I think it doesn't make much sense as a workout. You don't need such a strenous stimulus to elicit the physiological adaptations you look for with VO2max training.
Taking into account is also that Kipchoge actually did a training workout before the 2 hour attempt that justify his close to 68 sec/ 400m pace in the 2 hour attempt. Together with another superstar and some good pacemakers they pulled out 15 x 2000m at 5.40 min (68 sec/400m) with 200m jog recovery. (Up at high altitude 2000m)
But "Superworkouts" that topclass runners sometimes do up to their shape should not be a guideline for other runners.......just a little knowing what is possible to do for the best runners. You have to stick to whats the very best individual paces for your ability.
