Calculo, your opinion of track bot?
It's of very limited use, more a bit of fun
Unfortunately, for 800/400/200, you have to study vids or listed splits & come up with your own formulas
For instance, there is lot of nonsense here about -ve splitting 800 for best time
I have studies vids & 2s +ve split is ideal
It even gets better : if you extrapolate the 2s +ve split to initial 200m split, the formula you get is
800m = ( 4 * 200m split ) + 3.0
To demonstrate, ignore the current 1'40.91WR as that was a ridiculous race starting in 23.4 !!! in order to make a statement
Better is to look at his 2 previous WRs of 1'41.01 & 1'41.09 which were more formal TTs
I have studied the vids carefully & accounting for any clock-error present, he passed 200m in 24.4 / 24.5
Input that into above formula
It means, you can accurately predict the opening 200 split required for a targeted PB or alternatively if you can estimate what the 200 split is for the elite is in a targeted TT you have an idea what final time they are aiming for
I have seen some ridiculous 200 openers for elites, going thru in 24.0 for final clocking of ~ 1'44-flat
The opening 200 was the pace for 1'39.0 !!! & no wonder they faded to 1'44.0
The ideal split for 1'44.0 is 25.25 & they went thru 1.25s too quick !!!
In such cases, a prelim "correction" is to knock off 1/2 the difference from ideal 200 from too-quick one, which is ~ 0.625s, which indicates that in this case, the guy running 1'44.00 off 24.0 shoud ideally have ~ 1'43.37 off opening 25.1
It basically means there are lotta 1'42/1'43 guys out there but running nonsense opening 200s which ruin their clocking...
