You realize he was only 3rd at USA nationals last year, and was second behind Hill indoors.
His Olympic performance was obviously no fluke, but it's only in 2017 that he's left the others in the dust.
Yes, he made the team by a hundredth or two. Hopefully people mean "since the Olympics last year." No one saw that OG performance coming, and not many saw him making the team. Since the Olympics, may more accurately since cross, he has been a level ahead of other US distance runners.

Wow, I don't know Whether to believe a nitpicking, hairsplitting anon troll on letsrun, or Ryan Hill on whether Chelimo is on another level:
1:07: "We all know he is on another world of fitness right now....I was fine with him walking away, I was just running for second at that point."

Looks like youre thick. The translation of what Ryan Hill is saying is: We all know Chelimo has been doping like crazy in Kenya. He's at a drug high point right now, but we'll see if that lasts for the rest of the season
you really didnt see og performance coming? or making the team? i won a lot of money off predicting him to medal. very obvious. his training group is fantastic

I don't think he would run the same way if there was a gold medal at stake, even if he ran against the same people that he ran against yesterday.
Equally talented runners only at the worlds? Really? Since when has Chelimo run a PR 20 seconds (or even 5) faster than 13:00-13:05 True, Jenkins, and Hill?? He is most definitely their equal.
Symantics.........The question should be is True, Jenkins and Hill equal to Chelimo. One poster made claim that Chelimo (because he is Kenyan born) denied True a Third place finish. That opinion was predicated on the perceived dominance of Kenyan talent over our home grown base of talent. The US hasn't won an Olympic 5000 medal with home grown talent since 1964, and stil hasn't since Chelimo is Kenyan born. His dominance over the American field has been on display since the USA's last year. So, it appears that Chelimo's level playing field is on the World stage against the likes of Mo and Dejen.[/quote]
that awkward moment when you try to sound smart by using word "symantics" but it's actually spelled "semantics"
you're trying too hard
Thank you Paul! You showed those p***ys that always wait and kick how a man runs.
Yes because every sit and kick tactic has worked against Mo. Paul has his silver medal you need to press Mo from the gun - which everyone says the want to do, but no one ever does it.

Front running at it's best.
When was the last time anyone led a distance race wire-to-wire in a major championship? Ngugi '88?

Watch the 2015 WC 10000m.

Does he even speak English?

"front running at its best..." I recall a few years ago when Lopez Lomong won the 5,000 at the Stanford/Payton Jordan meet. He totally killed the last lap, dropping David Torrence and gapping the field and crossing the line and stopping to catch his breath, only to be told that he had miscounted the number of laps and still had 400 meters to go. He took off again in obvious oxygen debt, now working to stay ahead of the field, and closed with a 65 or a 68, and he still won the race. His time: 13:08.
I should also say that about a year later I saw Chelimo win an NCAA regional XC title on UVA's Panorama Farms course in Charlottesville. It was a 10k course on uncut grass with rolling hills and Chelimo won in 28:32(!) I remember being gobsmacked by his winning time (10 seconds up on the field) and I knew right then he was an amazing runner.

Believe Paul is a water purification specialist with the US Army, so his comments on front page about being a warrior & going into battle are a bit rich.
You are cute !!!!
You are mocking a man in the US Army (active duty) and yet you question using the term warrior. Yet there are "warrior workouts in Crossfit" and there is the "wounded warrior project".
Newsflash: Water purification is ABSOLUTELY critical ESPECIALLY when you consider the "theaters" where the army "performs" in.
Did you serve?
Did you contest for a spot on the National Team?
Did you win the US Trials?
Did you set the record?
But guess who did????? ~~~~~~ PAUL CHELIMO!!!!!
CHELIMO is a boss! He is going to be Meb part 2. Olympic medalist, track star and soon to be major marathon star!
Serious question: does Chelimo have a tic? I've not seen someone reach up to touch their face so many times in such a short span. He could barely take 3-4 strides without reaching up to touch his mouth or face. Or was he getting his necklace out of the way? Whatever was going on looked very strange.
Looks super smooth otherwise.

That's about the only way you could beat Mo
So i think Farah ran like 13:08 indoors this year.
And ran 12:59 solo last year.
If Farah ran 13:08 it wouldn't even be noteworthy.
