If you look closely at about the 1500 start mark, about 4 rows in, It was me.

The fall happened right in front of me. Amazing race. Best 10 k ever

Not really. Frank Shorter was the Olympic Marathon champion. And he came 5th in that year's 10k.

It wasn't even the greatest National Championship 10k. That goes to Virgins AR in 1979, Walnut, CA.

Not the greatest, but Chelanga's surges and Rupp being vulnerable made it much more interesting than in recent years when Rupp seemed unbeatable and it was only a question of who would squeak in behind him.

It's hard to believe that major track meets had races where only 3 runners were entered.

My kids think this is the greatest 10,000 M.

Not because of the race itself but because the of the "giant teddy bear" that joins the race with 3 laps to go.

That was the greatest 10,000m race I've never seen.
