Rupp's hat comes off!!
Rupp covers Chalenga, Korir and Mead in tow.

Just Rupp and chelanga up top but the field is coming back. Nice to see a pulse!
9:55 at 3200, 7 whole seconds faster than the women.
Chelanga will WIN. If there is such thing as justice.
Field is back together. "Hats off" to Rupp for getting on it. 9:55 at 3200.
Chelanga surges again like a jackass.
3200 and they are finally ahead of the women's pace.

Why is he a jackass
11:02 at 3600.
The field is getting sick of the surges..chelanga is making a move on the homestretch of every lap. Interesting tactic.
He's Rono'ing the field. It looks like they're starting to let go.
4000 in 12:09.
Men’s 10k goes out 6 seconds slower than women’s 10k through 1600.
What the hell is Chelanga doing? I'd love to see him win it.
But I've often thought to myself, "What have we learned over the last 20 years ? Never go with a mid-race surge. Just run even paced."

Why is he a jackass
he is a sexist for wanting to go faster than the ladies
Chris Derrick takes the bait and tries to catch
13:17ish for 4400? I missed that
this strategy seems to be working. It's a nice mental battle. The whole field seems content to let Derrick lead them around.

he's trying to cook them to death like Kipkoech did in Rome 87
This is reminding me of how Chelanga used to wipe the floor of Rupp in college.
I think Rupp will be laughing at the finish.
I wonder if Chalenga entered tonight thinking, "I wonder what will happen if...heck, let's try it."

14:58.1 at 5000 despite Chelanga putting in huge surges.
Not sure how obvious it is on TV but Chelanga is going real hard on some of the homestretches. Seems like a huge waste of energy because he then slows down and everyone else catches up and they didn't pick up the pace.
Chelanga takes off heading into 4800. Has a 7 meter lead again. He's being a dick but maybe it'll work.
Diego Estrada in the front pack NOT leading for once. Derrick looks good. Rupp in third, Korir, Simba, everyone else still there.
Looks like it's a warm up jog to a sub4 final mile.
