On the topic of Boris Berian, does anyone know why the Big Bear group has such a high turn over of athletes? Patrick Peterson, Christian Soratos and Stephanie Brown all left last year and this year Olicia Williams left

For all those critics of Nike this is why you have reduction clauses. It helps motivate people. Now Boris can collect $125k for doing nothing. Goodfor him bad for the sport.
He never seemed that bright
That's embarrassing. Your first paragraph contradicts your second.

Have you ever MET Carlos?
Couldn't change his shift at McDonald's so he couldn't go

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Big Bear lose it's major sponsor in the past 12 months?
Less $$ coming in means less $$$ for the athletes. Why would you stay?

Adams State isn't much of an academic powerhouse. If you find yourself working at McDonalds after graduating from a 4 year college, you should have gone to a different college. FWIW I worked at Burger King when I was 15 and 16, so I know it is nothing to aspire to.
considering he didn't graduate, you just sound ignorant
To everyone trashing Boris on this thread, it's better to just not say anything.
While you're entitled to your opinion, that doesn't mean an opinion can't be worthless.
Why are we always criticizing great athletes who're most likely injured and having a difficult time? If there's actually something legitimate to criticize, criticize it. If there's not, don't pull random things out of your ass to take cheap shots at someone.
Most likely we're not better coaches than their coach and we're not/weren't a better athlete than they are. We have no understanding of the context of their situation and cannot judge their decisions adequately because of that.
Next time any of us think about villifying an athlete, we should stop and weigh the outcomes. I believe everytime it will be much more productive for all of us (including the athlete) if we post something supportive and uplifting (or just nothing at all).
+1
Well said. There's always been a tremendous amount of bashing of elites on here, but it seems like it's gotten a lot more common in the last year or so.
If a person were new to the sport of track and field, and tried reading these forums to figure out who was popular, the only thing they would come away with is that all male elites are (insert favorite insult) and all the women are (insert favorite objectification).
Brazier isn't a lock here. there's rounds and lots of hot weather and he's not super consistent to this pointit will be interesting....symmonds or someone unexpected will likely make it. perhaps a college guyif sowinski doesn't make it, he should retire. it won't get any easier than this year to make a big outdoor championships. he's a solid 1:45 guy for years and that will make it

Berian doesn't show up on the accepted entry list for USA's. Looks like the 3rd spot in the 800 is up for grabs (this is me assuming the first two will be Murphy and Brazier). Anyone know where he's been/why he hasn't raced at all this year?
I have it straight from a team member that Boris has taken this season off to rehabilitate his Achilles tendon injury. He last raced in Aug 2016 in Paris Diamond League, and pulled up with an Achilles twinge.

This is a truly awesome success story for Boris, having a no-reductions contract with New Balance instead of that oppressive Nvkv bvllshvt contract they tried to press on him last year. He's getting paid to rehab, instead of forcing further injury just to survive. Nvkv go fvvk yourself.
When to run through a mild to moderate Achilles strain: Summer Olympics.
Why should Berian try to run through a mild to moderate Achilles strain this summer? If Berian wants a shot of competing well in 2019 World Championships, shutting it down for the Achilles strain is smart.

Since August 2016? I ruptured my achilles and was back racing in 8 months.
Every case is different. I understand when Achilles is completely ruptured scar tissue is cleaned out. Ask Pamela Jelimo, KEN. Achilles strains ruined her career. Often, serious runners do not stop running on mild Achilles strains. Often significant damage has occurred for serious runners to stop training.
I'm sorry to hear that Boris is taking time off to rehab. I wish him all the best. There is a lot of Big Bear bashing on this thread, but I hope their project succeeds.
