Mid 30s and married with no kids. Looking to rent a nice apartment. What parts of town are nice/walkable and where should I do my runs and track workouts?
Any good running groups?

I dunno but make sure you get you some of the Blue.

A lot of hateful people on here but thanks to those who offered good information.
ABQ is a great city and very underrated for running (think Denver with better weather). I recommend living in the Foothills/Academy area if you're looking for more affluent, quiet, low-crime, etc. However, it's not very walkable. Bosque bike trail is most popular for longer runs. There are also many trails in the Foothills area and in the Sandua mountains.
I'm jealous you're moving there...used to live there but have since moved to less running-friendly climates. Have fun!
Meant to say Sandia mountains...

"Low-crime???" Sure...that's probably why you're a "former" NM guy. 😉

Can you speak Spanish or are you a drunk Native American? If not...why would you choose to move there?
I heard there was some EPO for sale.. back in the day, dopers went there to transform themselves and never test positive.
Maybe OP wants to do he same? USATF won't stop him.
Better wear a crash helmet & racing shoulder straps when driving there:

Expect a lot of Bugs Bunny and Breaking Bad references
You need to know that it is in New Mexico, and is at moderately high elevation.

I thought it was in the Arizona desert. What they move it?
You and the little woman need to be packing at all times..its near top in violent crime and then there's the radiation risk
Cheers.
Strange...the crime stats don't seem that outlandish compared to other larger cities that ive lived in and visited.
Not fast enough for to justify taking EPO and that would take the fun out of running, anyway.
I've heard the foothills are the most affluent but if we wanted to live closer, any ranking preference between Nob Hill, Midtown, Uptown?
(S)Nob Hill is where it's at! Great restaurants, pretentious coffee within walking distance.
I've lived in ABQ, St. Louis, Philly, Knoxville, and Denver. In my experience crime in ABQ was no worse than any of these places. Like any major city the crime is localized to areas that you will probably never visit.

I second this answer.
https://www.instagram.com/dukestrackclub/As for running, if you want flat and fast, go for the Bosque, UNM North Golf Course, Albuquerque Academy, or the system of arroyo trails. The trail parallel to Tramway is good for a paved, hilly run. For moderate to difficult trails, the Foothills are a great option. The east side of the mountains has a multitude of trails as well.

I'd recommend Uptown from those choices.
If you don't mind a driving commute I would highly recommend the East Mountains. That is the collective name given to the communities of Cedar Crest, Tijeras, Sandia Park, and more located just over the Sandias. Practically no crime, doesn't get nearly as hot as town, great trail systems everywhere, decent road running in places, less crowded and more beautiful scenery. 15-30 minutes to get to town depending on where you live. No apartments but you could probably find a decent house to rent.
While Albuquerque is beautiful & has awesome weather and running trails, it is a nightmare place to live.
The criminal activity will absolutely get under your skin. Shootings, petty theft, burglaries, murders.... all of it and at significantly higher rate than most other areas.
Even the "NICE" parts... Sandia Heights, High Desert are magnets for crime and your car, apartment, safety are all in jeopardy.
YES IT IS THAT BAD!
See Breaking Bad for accurate description.
So what does it mean that the murder rate is more than two times higher per 100k people in the metro area that I'm coming from compared to ABQ?
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
