Giannis Antetokounmpo is doing pretty well.

Remarkable. I ran 4:10 as as sophomore (age 16) in the 70's. This guy would be 100 meters (or more ahead). Impressive.
Nice. I ran 4:08 the day before my 15th bday back in the 80s.

Iguider ran 3:35.53 1500m at 17 years and about 4 months. Then there are of course several Kenyans who have run much faster 1500m equivalents, but their U18 status is 'questionable'.
Iguider's age is questionable as well, truth be told.
I think Kiprop's listed age is the truth (rare for Kenyans, I know) and he was likely close to if not equal to being a sub 4 guy at that age. Anyone know his 1500 best at age 16?

In the 70's I raced several guys who were 4:10 or faster as sophs (this was in CA). No, I wasn't that fast as a soph. I did hit 4:12 as a 17 yr old senior.

Holy wow! You might get your own trash figured out before you point out someone else's! Poor spelling and run-on sentences are no way to go through life, dude.
I did a 4:03.15 as a sophomore in high school in the 90's. Man I was a beast!

The soph record was 4:08 from Jim Ryun to Alan Webb to maybe a guy from Pennsylvania, maybe a Miller? or Lockhart (VA?) who took it down to 4:06, I think. Maybe Cheserek was credited with the current record around 4:03 but that's not credible with his age being older.

Yeah, Ches was at best 19 as a soph, probably 20. Talented kid, but the age thing is out of control when it comes to Africans in general. Look up the scandal in Youth Soccer - the governing body started using an MRI test (wrist) and they were catching guys in their 30's claiming to be juniors from various African countries. Track needs to change the junior limit to 18 and use the same testing procedure. There some over age athletes from other countries, but Nigeria for example was hilarious with almost the whole team being 25 and older playing kids 18 and younger from other countries. Talent should mean you're allowed to cheat.
Title says it all, kid is a total stud. Negative split last lap with a great kick. What can he do in the future?
This 'kid' looks like he's about 22. Birth certificate anyone?

I've seen 16 year olds that look older than that.
Just because he's got a new age record and doesn't exactly look 16 doesn't mean he isn't

Welcome to the board! First post?
No one has brought up that this kid is probably training like a professional for years already? Webb had maybe a year of semi-decent training at 16. Long-term I am not convinced this guy is the Second Coming.
Sweet times guys! I ran 4:02.59 when I was 16 in the early 2000's. I could have only dreamed of a 3:56!
Really I did too!!!!! wrote:

Kenya is one of the countries which is excluded from the world junior age group record lists.

Ryun ran 3:39.0 1500m a couple of months after turning 17, which is pretty close to equivalent to Ingebrightsen's mile.
Thank you!
The difference is that now we know how to train and we have tracks, equipment, uniforms, medicine, physical therapy, doctors, lawyers, okay I'm getting carried away (Somebuddy stop ME)!
But yes he will run faster than Ryun did. The question is will he break the world record and win a gold medallion?
