Get on Wildwood trail and run north as far as you can go. Turn around and come back. It's fantastic. Wide, flat, winding very hilly, beautiful. Whenever I go out to Portland I always run on it. I wish we had that here.
The beauty of Forest Park is the number of loops one can construct by using Wildwood Trail, the connector trails, Lief Ericson and the fire lanes. Boredom is not an issue. Hills galore. Some mornings I will be on the trails and not see a soul for over an hour. In a city of 500,000 no less. Amazing.
Starting Leif Erikson trail from Germantown road (the west terminus of the trail) is a great idea if you want to avoid crowds and run on softer surfaces.
Also, on the east side of Portland, Mt Tabor has numerous trails the loop up and around the mountain.
