Stupid or not. That was the rule. They even made a point of it in the premeet notes. Should Oregon not be made subject to the same rules as everyone else?

Did she complete the 200? No. Then she should be subject to seeing official medical and saying "I fell" and seeing official medical again to clear her for the 4x400. Not finishing the 200, injury or not, subjected her to this just like every other team. If this meet isn't at UO their 4x4 is DQed and Georgia wins.
concussion protocol ?
seriously;
if Stevens DQ interference she can run 4x400 if DNF withdrawal she can not run 4x400?

SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN DQ'D.
She fell into lane 3, impeded another athlete.
She was smart enough to know that. Unlike you distance dudes.
Official results show she was in fact DQ'ed (after originally being DNF'ed). Give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that she knew it.
However, I can't help thinking that the team-spirited thing to do would have been to still cross the line on the off-chance she wouldn't have been DQ'ed. Just in case.
Maybe we'll find out in interviews later.
I wonder how many people negative commenting have ever fallen running at 22.low speed?
Some people fall, pop right up and are level headed. Some people fall, and are disoriented for a while and need to walk it off to make sure that they are injured after the adrenaline kicks down.
Every fall is different. And, however it took the officials to get to the DQ, that was the right call. She fell in lane 3. If she got up in lane 3, she would be a DQ. How many DQ's have we seen in a 200 for two steps out of lane, on the turn or NOT?

Actually, that is his tradition.
True. But why not go to official medical and get cleared for the 4x400 just like everyone else that fell in the meet? Would've taken 2 min and the controversy would be gone. Like you said, every fall is different, go through the right channels and get cleared just like everyone else.

WHAT?! She murdered Purrier over the barriers, what race were you watching? Her form was among the best in the field.

Stevens better be buying drinks tonight. What an anchor by Rogers FTW.
RR is quietly a heck of a champ and competitive runner. It will be great if she can rise to the next level after college. Throw down 1:57's whenever she wants. (after the man-ladies retire).

Hot Damn! And both teams break the collegiate record! What a finish, I thought Rogers went too early, if meet is at USC do the Trojans win it?? That home crowd was carrying Rogers down the homestretch.
The thing is...yeah, probably. As I was informed two years ago by those who knew of her in youth track on... "That's...just...Raevyn...that's what she does...win."
I think every woman or man who was ever in the position in high school or college...to win it or lose it all on the last leg of a 4x4...they loved that finish.
RR ran so smart...she ropa-doped the USC runner.
That may have been the loudest Hayward crowd since 2008...

Because she was DQ'd that is not the same as a DNF. The official results had her DNF then it was listed under protest then she was DQ. The rule only applies to DNF.

And to think, many punters think women's sports are boring.
That was one of the most exciting meets I've seen. Of course college can really bring the show, men's or women's.
That clutch perfect last leg by Rogers was a think of beauty. Proved her all around track smarts there.
I wonder if Oregon was the protest in the 200 that got stevens changed to a DQ. Would be the rare situation where you would protest AGAINST your own athlete.

Totally WRONG. Go watch the first 5 laps of the race, and catch up with reality.
After watching USF 10k Champ Charlotte Taylor interview, GF sez "she could be on Downtown Abbey."
(She makes me watch it, tradeoff for TV track)

Except it was already a DQ in the official results after the 200m. So likely the protest was that the DQ should have been changed to a "DNF," which the NCAA officials weren't having any of.
I was gonna post this about the false start, but you beat me to it. False starting and impeding other runners/not staying in your lane both end up as DQ's, and it would be insane if false starting kept you from subsequent races due to "honest effort" rules (unless you intentionally false start to save yourself for later and skirt the rule - but they would have a hard time judging intention). I don't see why being DQ'ed later in the race would make any difference. So I think the right call was made (but I'm not a rules expert and can't say for sure.) DQ =/= DNF. That being said, Oregon got lucky she was DQ'ed and not listed as a DNF. Although obviously not lucky that she fell in the first pace - and I feel bad for the girls whose races were impeded because of it. I think Georgia would have been in the right had she been listed as DNF.
Had GA won the meet that way, that would have been incredibly lame and anticlimactic. It's within their rights to protest given the unique situation (i.e. a runner didn't finish the race but was DQ'ed - best to check for sure), but still, had they won off a technicality when Oregon had just ran a brilliant 4x4 I would see it as a hollow win. Especially to take away Oregon's collegiate record on top of it.
What was GA's second protest for? I just heard the honest effort one. Throwing in two protests for a race they weren't even in just seems like a bunch of sore losers.
On another note, that 4x4 was thrilling, and Rogers was particularly incredible on that anchor leg! Talk about putting the team on your back. Finish hard and get both a collegiate record and the team title or lose and miss the team title by 0.2 points! What a finish!
The point everyone is missing here -- why is a DQ > a DNF?? A DNF has more repercussions. It should have superseded the DQ, and then Georgia is in the right. Stevens should have finished the race and she did not. Therefore, she should not have been allowed to race the 4x4. End of story.

Just taking a shot in dark at this, but maybe because, chronologically, the DQ occurs before a DNF (or finish).

Stevens was a DQ in the official results when they were scored. You're a boob.
Really, and how long should she have taken for this finish? Is there a time limit? could she say, run off the track, then come back later? After all she was DQ'd so are they going to DQ her more. That is the whole point of a DQ you dont' officially finish, you get no time, your race is over from the point of the DQ. Do you get it now?

The only point being missed here is by you. Stevens was a DQ because she impeded another runner outside of her lane. It doesn't matter what occurs with her after that point. She was properly scored as a DQ.
