He references a LetsRun thread about Chez being the GOAT and says "how can he be the GOAT and not have won a Bowerman"??

He mentioned Chez having won 17 titles HOWEVER 2 of them were relays and 3 were XC titles which Bowerman is just based on track creds. Still, that's 12 invidual titles. He should have a Bowerman, BUT I also think the Bowerman only takes into account the individual year which negates Chez's accumulated titles.
Even taking that into account, I think Chez should have gotten the Bowerman freshman. Arguably JR year, because Lawson came on late. He hadnt dominated his own conference. He had no SEC titles in the sprints indoor or outdoor that year and didn't win anything at Indoor nationals. He was 6th in the 60 and wasn't even in the 200m.
But every college coach reads LR, what do you think they do in their down time?
The fact that he admits that he doesn't know what the info the comittee uses to evaluate the candidates just shows so much ignorance in his rant about Ches not winning. I agree last year he for should have won. But the fact the a coach whom regularly has athletes qualify for the award shows a serious disrespect of it.

Not everyone , only the good ones!
That girl is a fox.
He's the cofounder of Letsrun, so it shouldn't really be a surprise that he reads LR.
LR is the most influential and popular distance running site on planet, so it ain't a surprise. Rupp, Farah and even Bekele read it.
of course he does wrote:

There's 2 Robert johnsons in track, there's 2 mark wetnmores, 2 Daniel Komens, 2 Wilson Kipketers

I didn't even realize he had the same exact name as Rojo until I was about to write the title, then it hit me
You would think he would know all the criteria. He did mention that XC wasn't factored into the decision, but he seems to think that the award is given for the most accomplished athlete up to that point, not in the specific year.

I'd reply to this it's the obvious reason why he said that, but it's so simple and you already know the reason

Wrong again, he mentioned two specific years that Ches won more titles than the other guy, 4 titles last year other guy three, he left off XC and relays even, same with his freshman year.
If he wanted a Bowerman then he should have run faster and earned it. Not that hard to understand.
