+1
Heard her blabbing about her Christian values, but a late stage abortion proves she puts money and fame first.
Where is it said that it was late stage? That may be the case but I have not seen it.
Instead of having a child out of wedlock they could have just gotten married - she could have had the baby and the gold but she decided to abort - shame
Because you douchbags care so much about black babies.
Again, she volunteered this information.
I wonder how many people would volunteer their darkest moments to the public for judgement.
A lot of perfect people here.

Don't Black Lives Matter to you?
2. "It will grow into a baby" -- I mean it might, or it might not, one day in the future, become a baby. But like my sperm one day might become a baby too, does the fact that I'm not impregnating a woman with it equal killing something? You don't want to get into a pissing contest about it because you know your indignation hinges on whether abortion is murder, and you refuse to acknowledge that this is subjective. Many people believe life begins at the moment of conception, but we kill living things all the time -- bugs, weeds, rats, etc. A human fetus still has a tail a month after conception. What makes us special is the identity we develop, not the chemical process of development.
3. Again, it's only cold-blooded if you think abortion is murder. Your original statement was "I do NOT believe the narrative that her church, sponsors, and fans would turn on her." -- I don't know anything about her church and fans so I wrote about her sponsors.
4. Again, I think this is her decision and I don't think it's right of you to try to shame her for it.
It's completely up to Sonya.
Also, Mother Teresa was kind of a jerk - she loved being surrounded by poor dying people yet doing very little to relieve suffering while taking money from a bunch of questionable people.

"Doing very little to relieve suffering." Bruh, have you ever read a book about Mother Teresa? I would love to see you give a few days doing what she did with the poorest of Calcutta's poor and get back to me. Her religious order is now worldwide serving people at the margins of society.
But everyone freak out because she took some mafia money to feed some starving people. Get over yourself.

Why do people see the need to tell us about this...
My question too. Like the Kiwi and his porn.
Mother Theresa was all about raising awareness rather than fixing problems.
I am pro choice because I believe legal protection for the infant should begin at birth not at conception. If your'e going to prosecute a mother for an abortion, then legally you should also prosecute moms who abuse their bodies while pregnant with alcohol, cigarettes, poor nutrition or drugs resulting in harm to the baby.
But even though I am pro choice I think it is morally wrong to have an abortion for reasons of inconvenience as appears to be the case here. If she was worried about sponsors and fans and what they thought she could have got married before giving birth. Depending on how far gone she was I suspect she could even have competed (Alysia Montano competed in a very pregnant state at national championships). To further justify her action by saying that she does not know of any female track athlete that has not had an abortion is disingenuous to say the least.
Best of luck to her.
Anyone else wonder is she's a screamer?

You say mafia, I say third world dictators with a laundry list of human rights violations. You say "serving people", I say exploiting natives to convert them to Catholicism. You say "did with the poorest", I say ran homes for the dying with no or inept medical care.
Sure, it's easy to blame me for what seems like deep seated denial. But whatever helps you sleep at night.

It would be interesting how surprised we would be if we knew of every abortion.
This is mostly shocking because no one would normally volunteer this information.
Some of your mothers or wives or other dear ones may have had an abortion that you have no idea about.
Yeah this is 100% true. I had an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy a few years back, at the start of my Boston marathon taper. Not only did I not want kids, but the pregnancy made me very ill. Getting an abortion wasn't even an issue I grappled with, it was a given. I was 36 at the time and the ladies in the clinic were very surprised that it was my first one because abortions are SO COMMON. You'd never suspect anyone either, because no one would ever admit to it! The only person I ever told was my sister, when she was drunk so I didn't think she'd remember.

Second, it's not a baby, it's a fetus.
Next time you're talking to a pregnant woman and she refers to her "baby", make sure you correct her and see what kind of reaction you get.
this is sad wrote:
Yeah to kill a child because of the inconvenience it would cause is messed up. That narrative definitely isn't true, but even if things turned out even worse than what she could imagine it still doesn't justify it. I pretty much liberal in every area except abortion, I believe that in a hundred years it will be the thing we will look back on with horror like we do with slavery and the holocaust.
Jesus! How dare you tell a woman she is as evil as Hitler murdering millions of innocent people, for simply removing a bunch of cells.
LATE abortion if it's not for serious medical reasons is not good.
But dont you dare dictate what a woman can do with her body when it's just a few cells. Judgemental lunatic.

I would trade a baby for an Olympic medal any day of the week. It doesn't even have to be my baby. How many people have babies every year? How many Olympic medals are given out every year? That's a no brainer trade.
What rot. You seem to have drunk the Kool-Aid that Christopher Hitchens served. St. Theresa founded hospices, not hospitals, and tried to comfort the dying. She and her nuns also trained people how to use Natural Family Planning (NFP) methods (I'm unsure which particular one or ones, but popular ones include the Billings ovulation method and the Creighton model). These are often ridiculed but they are fertility awareness methods that do not alter women's natural cycles by monkey-wrenching or poisoning them. They allow couples to time intercourse to avoid or achieve pregnancy. They are essentially free, too - rather important in places like Calcutta (Kolkatta). Yep, NFP methods require strong wills but can work quite effectively.
Here's an extract of something posted on this board about Hitchens regarding St. Theresa and others:
That's what everyone says....I can't tell you how many times I have heard birth control that's 99.9% fails. What they fail to mention is they forgot to take the pill one day...or took antibiotics while on it...or forgot to put the condom on lol Birth control "failing" is an excuse used by so many so as not to be called irresponsible. I don't think SRR even said this anyway. Bottom line, with THE OLYMPICS COMING UP WHICH ARE ONLY EVERY 4 YEARS AND YOU HAVE WORKED YOUR ENTIRE LIFE TO COMPETE....DON'T TAKE CHANCES....SEEMS OBVIOUS. These athletes are so disciplined in every aspect of their lives...tremendous self control...how about a few weeks of abstinence.. That's 100% effective ...
