I can't imagine why she hasn't gone pro. Make millions, I bet.

http://www.alltime-athletics.com/w_400hok.htmThat would be like 3:49.5 for a high school boys time.
she is actually tied for 59th all-time right now (according to the IAAF list).

I am too. God knows the US isn't what it used to be when it comes to sprints. I also hope she stays far away from Nike once she inevitably turns pro. Cain would have been better served going elsewhere since Salazar can't seem to coach women. Hasay is the prime example here
Sal coaches distance runners you clown. I hope she signs with Nike, the only company that understands how to promote track and its athletes.

Wind was 0.0
This is amazing, but is it really like a boy running a 3:49 mile? How many more boys run the mile vs girls who run the 400h? My HS didn't even have 400h as an event for boys or girls.
400h isn't the marquee high school event. But this is an athlete who will make a lot of money whenever she goes pro. By retaining amateur status, she preserves a real hs experience, lots of national records the others lost out on by going pro early, and hopefully, a real college experience. I think those going pro early miss out on the camaraderie and lifelong friends they could make on the college teams. They are isolated, compete occasionally, are rarely in the news. McLaughlin is not about to slow down like the teen distance phenoms have done.
I have to address the elephant in the room... this girl is hot!! What makes her even more attractive is she carries herself very mature, you would think she's 22 years old if you didn't know.
every PR she ran in 400h is a WJR, just like Chespol
all this "Its like 3:49" for a high school boy is rubbish.
No its not.
Your assumption is that all records are equal.
Top men's records are equal to women's records. No they aren't
Women's records are still pretty ordinary. There are a few good ones, but the best women's 1500 is not in the same class as the men's WR.
Nor is the TJ, the sprint races, the Steeple. Etc.

Except Sydney is legit and not a doped-up 25-yr-old "junior".

What are you talking about? Most of the women's records were set so heavily doped that modern, less-doped athletes can't approach them.
That is performer list. I was referring to performance list breaking the top 100 performance of all time. Would require no less than 53.34, which I'm betting she achieves this summer.

It is still rare for someone to run sub 3:50. If she ran sub 50 in the 400m, that would be comparable, because that is not broken all that frequently, despite being raced every meet. But she is not far at all from having the flat speed to break the 400mH world record.
For those that point out the rarity of 400H in high school, that makes it all the more impressive. Imagine a 17-y.o. prep running world class 3000 steeples.
According to the Mercier tables it's worth a 3:47 mile.

Impressive result. She should go pro. Take the money now. Cash in and become the poster girl for Track & Field.
No one assuming that. % is a %. So if someone says she is within 3% of the WR and that some other runner boy or girl in various field or track event is within 3%, well then the percentages are the same. Whether or not one is harder or more impressive than the other- completely different discussion and up to interpretation.

I wouldn't be surprised if she signed with new balance after college. This has been brought up before but she seems to like and wear all of their gear and apparel

This has been stated before, but it's not a coincidence that she wears all of their gear. They've been giving it to her for years.
The girl is relentless. splits 49.85 at NBON
