This one does.... and he is not currently undergoing therapy
I don't know what the answer is when it comes to transgender athletes participating in gender-separated sports.
What I do know is that anyone who thinks being transgender is a "mental illness" or refers to a transgender person as "that thing" is a disgusting, sad, little-minded person.
Semenyeah = end of women's sports.

I was thinking the same thing.
They won't care until dudes start sauntering into softball and WNBA.

I do know the answer to Transgender athletes participating in gender seperate sports. To much testosterone, your in with men - no exceptions, an XY and your in with the men - no exceptions. Problem solvex.
Also calling some one "that thing" is rude and little-mindminded, however, its hard to argue that believing you are something that you are not isnt a mental illness in some way.
Should be an xx division and xy. It's how biology defines you that should matter when competing.

Do you think it's appropriate to publicly shame a young child on twitter???

We all suffer the illness of believing we are something we are not in some way or another. And yes, it's extremely rude to say something like "that thing."
I think the winner of this race would be better off competing with boys as a girl if she really just likes competing. Otherwise the backlash takes away from what it's all about anyway and she'll be criticized to no end.

"Disgusting, sad, etc."
Do you think insults will change reality? That's the pathetic type of response that today's gender insanity purveyors think will shut up anyone who points out that the Emperor has no clothes.
Even the simplest child (is that what you meant by little-minded?) knows he's a man. As studies have shown, most people will outgrow these bouts of goofiness if they are allowed. As it is, your affirmation of this kid's mental problems is just heartless child abuse. Hating reality doesn't change it, but it does harm the child. And other children forced to play an unwinnable game.
The kid's male. 12+ and 26 flat are not good times for varsity males. It's fairly good for girls. But he's not a girl. One trait of many mental illnesses is the inability to deal with reality and to construct an alternate reality. In this case, there are very real unfair outcomes if common sense can't be utilized by what we used to call adults.
Believe as you will, but don't expect everyone else to share in your kooky, evil fantasies.

You have lost your mind, dude. Well, calling the guy a "thing" is unkind, of course. That's not right, but supporting TG is not good in any way shape or form. Not good for anyone. Is there no limit to this insanity? What's next? (I'm afraid to ask.)
So what is your illness
you speak with sass and truth, i commend you

The solution is simple. Require hormone treatment.
I agree that she should be on hormone treatment and maybe she is. She ran 11.99 in early April, a mark that doesn't appear on the state lists. At the time she was not on hormone therapy.as user "GoogleSearch" noted. Another April article said she was due to start hormone therapy soon. Six or eight weeks of therapy = 0.67 seconds lost in the 100?? That might be about right. Next year she'll probably be over 13.
Class M does not contain the big schools and there are faster girls in the state.
The NCAA does require that all transgender women be on hormone therapy for one year prior to competing against other women.
For whatever it's worth, I'm politically liberal and donated a few thousand dollars to the various Obama and Clinton campaigns...and even I think this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. At least Semenya -- who I don't at all support competing without hormone therapy -- has some physiological basis for identifying as a woman. This guy, not at all. Administrators need to shut this down or it's the end of women's sports. Just like the average conservative probably shakes his head at some of the wackos on the far right, I shake my head at the wackos on the far left who support this kind of nonsense.

This is a joke. Are people stupid? Do sports administrators in CT not understand why we have women's sports? We have women's sports because biological females aren't on average nearly as strong/fast, etc as biological males. To allow someone who is biologically male to compete in women's sports simply because they identify as a woman is absurd.
The solution is simple. Require hormone treatment.

Hormone treatment is not enough. Think about all the steroids she could swallow (and any other drugs that might work) took Kratochvilova to an unassailable 1:53.28 and 47.99. Both are times that are regularly run by HS boys. In other words, all the drugs in the world did not make this world-beater into a MAN.
All the hormone treatment in the world will not turn a HS boy into a girl. It will just make him a weaker (and slower) boy. A male on estrogen-replacement therapy will not make you a woman. Strain your brain for a minute.
This boy can "identify as a woman" all day long, but he should have to run as a male.
Anyone else think this boy looks like Ricky Williams?

The article doesn't mention what kind of hormone replacement therapy the girl has gone through. I have a friend who has transitioned from man to woman and said she trains harder than ever but cannot come anywhere near her times from before she transitioned because HRT absolutely destroys your power, VO2, and muscle mass. And this is with less than one year of HRT. If this girl sprinter has been doing it for longer, there is no issue with her competing as a girl. It's also worth noting that for my friend, her testosterone levels have dropped below that of most regular women since the HRT.
Yes, there is an issue, because Nature started this boy out as a stronger, faster, bigger human than most women. Therefore, even with that ability reduced by drug therapy, he is still bigger, stronger and faster than most females. And he proved this.
Use your head. Your ability is not determined ONLY by the level of circulating testosterone in your body at the moment or for the last year. Your ability is a complex collection of size, strength, lean muscle, dendrite density, mitochondrial density, extra fat, mental drive, and probably 2000+ other tiny things. Both women and men have all these traits to varying degrees, but IN GENERAL men have an advantage in all of them, making them BETTER in most sports. Use your head.
Well, the treatment for Semenya pushed him/her back to 2:02 in 2014. WIthout, probably 1:49-1:50
