Looks like it's not that much of an ethical dilemma. The question is, how much can you take before you go over the limit?
***** Pseudoephedrine: Prohibited when its concentration in urine is greater than 150 micrograms per milliliter.

Stay away from cold medicines, period.
Wife is an ER nurse with allergies as a specialty. Except in the most extreme instances, allergy medications are crap. Many contain pseudoephedrine, the active ingredient in crystal meth. They only treat the symptoms temporarily and have the potential for negative side effects.
What we use: Tylenol (acetaminophen) to relieve the extreme symptoms. It won't tweak you or give you a rebound effect and is safer than taking a drug that can raise your BP through the roof. And, drink lots of water to stay hydrated and move the allergies out of your system.

There is no way you are taking enough Claritin to make a difference. The games in your head about this will make or break your running more than the drug itself.
On the other hand, I am hopped up on 60mg/day of prednisone for systemic poison ivy. There is a reason prednisone is banned in-competition. To put it simply, I am f**king focused. I can punch a hummingbird out of the air.
Jewel weed...crush it up and put it on the rash. It will be gone by the end of the day.

LOL. Someone slept through high school chem.
Methamphetamine and pseudoephedrine are each compounds, at the molecular level. There is no "ingredient list" and certainly no "active ingredient." Pseudoephedrine is a good starting point for creating methamphetamine, but certainly not the only one.
The fact that it's a good starting point doesn't mean that by taking pseudoephedrine you're taking methamphetamine. That would be like saying that graphite pencil lead is identical to a diamond.
If you stack pseudo-ephedrine with caffeine and aspirin you're in for a real stimulatory treat, downside with some people is heart attacks and heart palps.
I'm not suggesting you do this, just a warning that it's very easy to accidentally take these 3 meds in combo: Clariton in the morning with your coffee and maybe aspirin cuz you have a headache or whatever. They somehow interact to prolong the effect of ephedrine for many hours.
I'm not the most principled person, ..., but I have a strong conscience.
Love this.
it's extremely irresponsible to suggest ECA as a "stimulatory treat" to runners as it could legitimately kill people - do you really want that on your conscious or are you just mentally writing it off as "not my problem/fault"
it's not just doping, it's very plausibly death for some people

So, 150 lb guy needs around 6 pseudoephedrine to pissed hot basically. Take it, if it works for you.
You could also try the homeopathic version called "sinulsalia". Works great for most. No side effects except breathing through your snot better.

Hunh?.. did you even read the entire msg? It's clearly a warning.
What part of "heart attacks and heart palps" don't you understand? Or the statement "I'm not suggesting you do this...". You should be thanking me for pointing out this interaction to other readers, instead of SJW whining.
you do know that you can buy Claratin without the decongestant, right? Or you can just buy generic loratadine.
Or try Allegra/fexofenadine HCL and see if works better.
I felt horrible running on Claritin-D. It gave me an elevated heart rate and made me feel loopy. I had to switch to Zyrtec.
prednisone makes you effing CRAZYi used to get on it for bad poison ivy and that sh*t hits you really hard in the braini never felt focused, more like out of my body. i just let hummingbirds land on me, no punching required.

Best quote of the day I'm still laughing
"Focused..I can punch a humming bird out of the air"
Thanks still smiling
