Yeah, and North Central is notorious for training from below and not doing enough strength work
My insecurities about not making varsity have lead me to letsrun. I want to make sure everyone knows HOW GOOD my school is, so I can feel a little better about not being good enough. Trust me guys, they are REALLY good and are even better at 8k - even the milers! If they were a little less good, I would have made the team, but I'm ok with that because I like being part of a team that dominates a handicapped division!

Come on, chill out. I don't go to NCC, but was just responding to whoever said the "it's only a 6k" comment. Admittedly I haven't researched this but I bet it would be pretty historically rare for NCC to be vastly superior at 6k instead of 8k; currently, they have like... one miler in their top 7 in Hird? And he was AA in XC so it's not unreasonable he could scale up again.
Also you probably are a D3 athlete or alum, so shoutouts to you for calling yourself handicapped
and where is Tufts Dad, anyway?
Well played, I haven't been apart of the team for years but I always appreciate a good roast
His son, Tim Nichols, graduated.

Move over Derrick Rose, the REAL return is upon us.
Hello everyone, I apologize for my absence from the message boards. It has been quite some time since I posted but it feels good to be back. When my son graduated from Tufts, I promised my wife I would take a step back from being a super-XC fan and focus on other things. Groton can get a bit boring at times so since both of our kids are graduated and on to other things, we decided to travel a bit (retirement is the best!) and were able to check out a bit of the Pacific Northwest and even got to do some scuba diving in the Gulf of Mexico! Now of course, you know my wife- we had to go to all these small little gyspy trinket shops and check out each Maritime Museum in the different towns we stayed at when all I wanted to do was spend a little one on one time with my honey in the Days Inn Hot-tub and curl up in bed to a nice book with CNN on TV.
However, every time the calendar turns and the weather starts to bring that bit of a nip in the air, I also get that itch in my bones that cross country is right around the corner and you know what that means......JUMBO time.
I would be lying to you if I said that our Jumbos would be competing for the title this year. With little Timmy Nichols and Luke O'Connor graduating, I officially don't personally know anyone on the team anymore but I know that with them left a lot of talent and spunk and the Jumbo family will miss them.
However, I know with Coach Williams and Coach Schmidt's past success and a young core, we will surprise a lot of people on the East Coast and probably the whole nation!
Look no futher than Hiroto Watanabe. What a name! I mean that has to be right up there with some of the best names in D3 running, probably next to Dijan "Mustard" Mazaheri and good ole Wiley Manglesdorf.
A good name is half the battle- both Wiley and Bijan were multi-time all-americans, it only a matter of time until Hiroto is as well. Whereas I can't say that we're going to be on the podium this year, I can say that we're going to give a good JUMBO effort and put it all out there. Go Tufts!
I'm hoping to be at nationals this year so that should be a fun one. I haven't been to Illinois much in my life outside of business trips that brought me through Chicago but with my son recently taking a position last year, I have gotten more familiar with it and think it will be nice to see everyone and wonder where the parents of all the semi-nude Wash U students parading around underwear went wrong. Maybe I'll try and do some more research but thats all for know. Go Tufts and give them the good ole one-two JUMBO
-Tufts Dad
First of all I'd just like to say thanks for coming back to the thread Tufts Dad. With all of these Midwest teams running so fast so early, it's refreshing to see that the Northeast remembers what is truly important, and that is unity and the pride of a school with fathers who have wealthy pockets and 4:07 milers for sons.
However folks, I figured I'd get to the real meat and potatoes of my message. I feel it only fair to give you a warning that your demise is inevitable. With the leaves changing color and falling to the ground, it's no surprise that Fall is upon us. That means we only have a few short weeks before Winter is here. Not only is winter coming, but it's cuming in full force. While those Midwest fools continue to fight each other for "Midwest Rankings" based off of 6k courses that don't mean anything compared to the 8k, the JUMBO's are preparing for the long night and will be the most prepared team for when nationals comes. We have forged bonds with those wildling folk from John's Hopkins who you have long shunned and never taken seriously. We have allowed them to pass through the vast rows of Eaton Hall so that we can prepare for a final strike when the time is right. You may not view us as a threat at the Bates Invitational, or even the Paul Short Classic...but by gosh when the NESCAC Championships come about you will know our name and you will fear it as if we were the mad kings of old. We will ride in on our 3 gigantic elephants and wipe out your entire fleet. It doesn't matter if you bring out your top 7, your top 10, or even your entire teams. On November 18th, the Principia North Farm Facility of Elsah Illinois will be covered in Candy Cane blood and the blood of anyone else who dares stand in our way.
Take my warning and take it well, you have until the 18th of November to prepare yourself for the inevitable. Nobody can stop us JUMBO's when we have the unity of the Northeast combined with the infinite wealth of our father's pockets.
The night is dark and full of terrors
This post is an official plea begging for change- lest this thread spirals into an area of desolation and demise in which no one feels like posting and the utter idea of D3 cross country is ignored...
I have sat back and watched this thread in its infancy and have found everyone contributing to be severely lacking. A good division 3 cross country thread is made up of a combination of those few who actually know what they are talking about and attempt to make valid and relevant posts about predictions and talk about which teams will grace the podium. This small group of actually intelligent and caring people are often dwarfed by a group of trolls who with celebrated wit and pomp create post after post of laughable and sometimes almost believable stories that capture us and make us wonder hmmm, I wonder if Dhruvil Patel is actually transferring, or hmm, I wonder if the La-Crosse team actually has power walks as part of their training regime. There is always the group of homers that no one likes- the individuals who come on to say "hey, watch out for the boys fromCNU, the south will rise again" or the ever present West-Coast-biased posters talking about each of their teams as if they would be relevant on the national stage. And finally, we have the D1 wannabees or those outsiders or old geezers who are jealous and feel threatened by us D3 folk that they feel the need to come talk crap and shower us with "D3 is JV" posts. Even they have a role in the ever-growing and always interesting D3 cross country thread...
However, what do I find when I sit down on my computer, pull up my Letsrun message board and click on the "Official 2017 DIII Cross Country Thread"? A bunch of bullsh*t so far, that's what. We have one poster sucking NACAC's dick while another is sucking MIT's. The trolls are ABSOLUTE CRAP- some of the worst I have ever seen on this message board. Dan O'Keefe? Really? I expect much better from everyone involved here. If we are going to make this thread a joke, lets at least make it a hilarious one on par with the ancient "D3 girls train hard/party hard" threads. Those were threads filled with so much yes that they should be required reading at every D3 college in the nation.
So I end with my final plea- let us all sit back and take a look in the mirror and truly ask ourselves if we are being the best we can be. Either a homer, a troll, or an actually intelligent poster- are we actually doing our job? Hopefully, we can turn this around and make this a thread actually worth reading.
Anyways, that's all on my end right now. I have to start thinking of clever ways to talk up how good my son and the Williams are going to be this year- right before they blow up at nationals again.

Can this be re-posted as USTFCCCA's recap for next week?
2/10. 2 points for filling in new names. -8 points for copying and pasting from an old Tufts dad post from a few years ago. Shame on you
My little birds tell of a mysterious transfer to Wabash College, known only as "Jip." On Thursday Jip walked the 2-mile fitness test in an unprecedented and unheardof 13:12. You have been warned.
I saw in the results from yesterday that Hird was NCCs top guy at their invite. What gives? I swear this guy must be 30 years old by now, I feel like he has been running for them for at least 10 years. I get there are loopholes and stuff but this is a bit ridiculous at this point.
