Loras at nationals? You guys historically suck! The only thing more embarrassing than your mascot is your ability to get a position at nationals. I get it though, you guys like it in the rear. I'm not judging. PS the central region was weaker than the south last year. Keep those heads up boys!
I agree that the Loras talk is getting a tad out of hand. We all know they have improved a lot and return just about everyone from their squad. But there are still plenty of talented teams out there that they still have to beat, and many of the teams ahead of them are still pretty loaded with strong runners. I can see why so many of their runners and fans are excited, but it is a bit asinine to assume that you're guaranteed a podium spot. You don't just default there because you return everyone.
Great example, Saint Olaf's 2014 squad. They returned all but 2 of their top 7 from their championship team in 2013, with only 1 being relevant in scoring points. North Central graduated like 4 of their top 6. That made Olaf the favorite by default since everyone was returning. Well, injuries happened, and bad races were had at nationals which resulted in North Central winning despite having a different top 7.
All of that said, jeez you don't have to rip into them like that. It seems very forced and unappealing. And to your point about the South doing better than the Central region... um, no? Did you even try to look? It only takes a second. The Central Regional had all of their teams at nationals placing much higher than all of the South's, excluding Christopher Newport who did very well for themselves at 11th. I do fear that the Central region will be very poor this year, though. I would assume only the auto-qualifiers come out of that region, as it's very weak now.

CNU will finish in the top 5..have a great lineup of runners 3-4 running sub 15 on nearing sub 14:30 type stuff. I mentioned last year I thought they could be a top ten finisher .. they came in 11th..
you are the worst
The Central region got screwed last year. No way the south should have gotten more bids. They were pathetic at nationals. The committee will get it right this year and give the Central region all the bids it deserves.
It will "deserve" four I imagine. But you actually have to race and beat some other regional teams mid season to bump them. Wartburg, St. Olaf, and Central often go places to do it. I hope the rest of the region can get to some places in late September or October and race well to help the region merit another bid. Easiest ones to get to are Augustana, Lacrosse, Oshkosh, or possibly Notre Dame or Chicagoland races.
Stout will step up and finish top 10 at Nationals. They have been building a great team there. Every year they have one of the best recruiting classes in the WIAC. This will be the year they step up.
You meant to type "Stout will finish top 10 in the Midwest Region", right? They'll definitely do that.
In case anybody was curious I went back to last years nats race and went ahead and removed anybody that has SR next to their name. Not saying this is a prediction, just a thought experiment.

Can we PLEASE start the Williams bashing soon
What's the point of bashing a team that finished 9th last fall? Without Hale, they'll probably finish even lower.
Pretty sure they already finished 9th without Hale.

Only after they lose to Geneseo and MIT at their home invite.
I'm still waiting on "tufts dad" to make a return. really missed those moments.
Anyone know if there are any really big match ups early on in the year? Not that results from the first meet affect results at nationals but still interesting...

Hale was pitifully slow at nationals because his string cheese knees were well past their use-by date. They only lose two guys from a strong team that could have contended for a podium spot had they not blown up.
NCC and Loras are at Elmhurst early on

Look for a repeat performance from the Willy Boys this year. They are overrated and will surely blow up.
Watch out for the Mammoths though, they look fierce.
