Coach Canova has said Kwemoi will win the 2020 Olympic 5000m.
He just won the Bowerman mile.
So what do you think he should run at Worlds this year? Could he be the guy who can outkick Farah?

Both
1500. It's more wide open. He has no shot at beating Mo in the 5000 even if he's in better shape. Mo's tactics are too good.

Here's what Canova said LAST year about Kwemoi, "I have yet to decide which race we will focus on more. In the case that we choose to do the 5,000 meters, he will be very tough for Mo Farah."

Well of course he'll say that. Why would a coach say anything that would show he doesn't have full confidence in his athlete?

Circa 2003. Win the 1500, lose the 5000. Mo is too good.

They've been saying they'll beat Mo for years. This latest guy I notice was in the B mile race. 3:49 is hardly stunning
The only way Mo will get beat is when he starts to slide

Kiprop is better at the 1500 than Mo at the 5000--and closer to his peak. Outkicking a 34-year-old shouldn't be impossible. Kiprop seems to be tactically illiterate, but still has a pretty great record at WCs.

Good Lord, I hope so.
I really hope mr Canova and Kwemoi goes for a battle with Mo at the 5000m. Kwemoi seems to be the only one that have a chance to outduel sir Mo.....but.....most truly I think Kwemoi and Canova decides to take the "safe way" and 1500m.
Why did Kiprop come in last place at the Bowerman mile?
Is he distracted again by Gabriele and Federico Rosa?
Andy Arnold:
I’d also like to talk about Asbel Kiprop and the Olympic 1500-meter final. Once again, he entered the Olympics as the most dominant 1500 meter runner in the world, only to fail to achieve a medal. People have speculated as to why this happened. Some of the rumors out there have claimed that he was nursing an injury. Others have focused on the arrest of [his agent Federico] Rosa as a cause for distraction, and at least part of the reason why Asbel struggled in Rio. Do you believe there is any truth to these rumors?
Renato Canova:
No. He did not have any injury leading up to the 1500 meters. As for the Rosa trial, it was complete stupidity on the part of the police. They did not investigate anything and they did not have any evidence. We know that they are completely clean, both Gabriel [Rosa, Federico’s father and founder of Rosa’s agency] and Claudio Berardelli. This trial was caused by a desire for revenge by somebody that asked Rosa to give him money, and Rosa refused. And with this one situation, all the other situations became bigger and bigger. You see, there was this new law regarding performance-enhancing drug use and its enforcement, and the Kenyan police wanted to show that they wanted to do something and wield this law. Also, the Kenyan federation was not informed about anything from the police. So obviously, they were not very happy about the Rosa situation.
What is wrong with Kiprop???
Please ask Andy Arnold and Renato Canova.
They will give you the correct answer.
is this a joke ???
did you even bother to watch race ???
"the latest guy" finished the last 110m in 13.6 !!! from vid : 3'48.8 - 3'35.2 according to screen clock at 110 out & at finish line
he even had to run that last 110m wide in lane & got wider in stretch !!!
https://youtu.be/p0ILLPKDg6I?t=221
let me do the math for you :
13.6 for 110 is 12.3+ !!! for 100 or 49.4+ !!! pace for 400
that is a stunning finish & fastest finish i can ever recall in a fast 1500 or mile in history, 2nd being Asbel who ran 12.4 but in a quicker 3'31-flat low few years ago but he didn't have to run wide that last 110m
if you think mo coud produce a 12.3 finish at end of a fastish mile anytime in his life you are dreaming
Ronnie coud very, very likely produce a similar finish in a 13'15 - 13'30 race as london will likely be & that woud destroy mo
If Canova let kwemo run the 5k then he is selfish
There is no one on God's green earth who can beat Mo Farah in the 5 n 10k at the moment .
Please hate Mo Farah all you want but at least b sensible about it
Mo Farah is invisible , period!
OneMoMile
tony the tiger wro
Mo Farah is invisible , period!
This Salazar stuff is getting out of hand.
How about you just do math from last 200? Leaders say 3:22.1; lets give Kwemoi 3:22.3. Finishing time 3:49.0........last 200 26.7 give or take a tenth or so. Doesn't look like a 49 second last lap you fool
How do you measure the last 110 ? You can't. Mo never leaves it until the last 100m in championships anyway
Your calculations also do not factor in that runners are not the same at every distance. That's why Ritz turned over Lagat in the latter stages in Manchester today.
Stop making up splits.
Pippkilj wrote:How about you just do math from last 200?
why ?
the fireworks happened just as they entered homestretch, not at 200 out

idiot
last 200 for ronnie from running clock was 3'48.8 - 3'22.8 = 26.0
the last 100 was ~ 12.3
therefore it was an accelerating last 200 of
13.7 / 12.3 !!!
analyse better
ukathleticscoach wrote:How do you measure the last 110 ?
err...
from the yellow line on the track which is the hurdle line at 290m...
You can't
you sure can
Mo never leaves it until the last 100m in championships anyway
is that a joke ???
Ronnie's proportioned last 110 to 100m is 12.3+ !!!
find me where mo has ever finished a fast race with a 12.3 finish ???

Bernie is ancient, running for fun nowdays

you really lack any analytical insight at all
if relevant splits aren't listed, you look for them & majority of occasons you can find them with a running clock & good view of track
if you can't do the job, wait for others to do so
I said Mo never leaves it until the last 100m, you can't even follow an argument.
How the hell can you see that line in the video. You don't have 'a good view' of the track.
Lagat would still kill Ritz over a mile it's the distance that finished his kick
Kwemoi has not even come close to breaking 13 I bet he does not even run the 5
