In the end it doesn't matter, and everyone saying he should be given a break should be happy: he was just advanced on to the next round without having to run.
So why not from now on just forget your uniform, not race, throw a fit, and be advanced. It's utterly ridiculous. At some point personal responsibility matters. Unfortunately that's not the lesson that was taught here.
It is total BS that he was advanced to the next round. The meet officials are putting the other 24 people in the finals at a DISADVANTAGE because this 1 kid is fresh. It is harder for them to qualify for Eugene because this kid has fresh legs to grab an auto qualifying spot or to qualify based on time so both sections are affected. They are punishing those 24 people instead of the 1 kid who actually screwed up.
