I feel bad for Salazar. He worked so hard to stay within the guidelines of WADA and now he is being crucified for it.
It would have been much simpler for his athletes to simply Lance.
Unfortunately, he may have slipped up on the guidelines a few times (it happens when you constantly work so close to the line). If you search deep enough, you will find something.
My guess is that 80%+ of this board used an illegal substance at one point ( unknowingly in 90% of the cases). Did I ever check whether a cold medication was ok or not, or a protein shake or whatever? Never. I was not good enough to care about that and I simply wanted to get better as fast as possible like anybody normal. Same for most people here. So go on a witch hunt and you will be able to crucify most people on this board.
Who here can cast the first stone?
If WADA has a problem with what Salazar was doing, then change the regulations.
Everybody else here is simply jealous and wish that they had the willingness/tools/obsession/talent... that this group has. Clearly, using his methods, Salazar's group did better than they should have taken into consideration their talent level. So be it until WADA changes the rules.
Forget the unhealthy medication stuff. Runnng 150 miles a week is not healthy, so we can simply stop right there. You don't have the look at medication. If we really cared about "health", we would probably limit running to 100 miles per week (maybe even less). In reality, Lance is probably healthier now than he would be had he tried to train as hard as he did without PED. So that argument is BS.
In my opinion , an athlete deciding not to takes no some type of WADA legal medication for health reasons is the same as an athlete telling his coach that he doesn't want to run 150 miles per week for health reasons. Both could be unhealthy, both are WADA legal. It's probably smarter for an athlete to say "don't expect me to run 150 miles per week without supplements. It's stupid. The body is not made for that". It's not "right", but it's probably smarter.
