People are always blaming their DNF's on "stomach viruses." I've never had a stomach virus, I don't believe there is such a thing, let alone that they wait around to strike right when you're about to race.

Actually for Jornet I can believe that he got sick because it is widely known that the mountaineers piss and poo all over the trails and they don't cleanup (hence all the garbage they litter all over the mountain). At base camp, I've read accounts that you can't step outside of your tent without stepping on human excrement because it has been thoroughly mushed into the ground and spread all over.
Since there is no way that Jornet could have carried enough water on him for his ~40 hour wandering, he would have had to melt snow to drink at some point. And this most likely meant he ingested some contaminated snow that contained some piss or poo that made him sick.
Then he got an intestinal virus, not a stomach virus. A stomach virus would be if the other climbers puked all over the place.
For anyone who cares the previous record was from Advanced Base Camp.
"Since 1996, Hans Kammerlander has held the record for fastest ascent without supplemental oxygen of Everest in 16 hours and 45 minutes from advanced base camp."

You're still an idiot.
I'm a genius and always have been.

Did you really say that? It's the ultimate proof that you are an idiot.
And I don't think he would dope. At least I think taking something like EPO would make the blood thicker an be that would be dangerous. But I think more dangerous would be that it would mess up your ability to really gauge your body and how it's reacting to altitude. I think that he does use an attitude rent though.
Interesting fact: The sherpas have a higher percentage of Denisovan DNA (Denisovans were an early human species that interbred with homo sapiens millions of years ago) that prevents their blood from becoming too thick at the high elevations (this was an adaptation to the climate in Siberia where they lived).
Looks like he did get an FKT of some sort:

So he set a "record". Kinda like setting a WR for running 423m.

More like setting the WR for the 423 m with no watch timing and no evidence you even crossed the finish line.

Someone needs to tell Jornet that is not the "top of the world."
"The Spaniard is also an accomplished skier and ultramarathoner, with record-setting victories at several prominent races such as Western States and the Hardrock 100."
What was his "record-setting" victory at Western States?

It is proof that I am a genius. You're in over your head, give up.

Yetis are really scared of sherpas. Just like goats are scared of Afghans.
isn't Everest also littered with dozens upon dozens of dead bodies that no-one wants to bring down because they are frozen and the weight is too much?
I feel like Nepal should specifically line-item a charge for "dead body removal" on all applications and make it realistically very expensive, just to remind all the idiots it's going to happen to them sooner or later
or in theory in a decade there will be several hundred dead bodies up there and once climate change starts to affect that area, enjoy the exposure to that smell as you climb
adding "of my life" ("de mi vida" in spanish or "de la meva vida" in catalan) is a common way to emphasise meaningfulness or to demonstrate affection, it's a "frase hecha", you can use with people's names, etc., like calling your spouse or child "(name) de mi vida", so it is less corny in Spanish than in English.

Ok then this Jornet is a total idiot and exudes hubris just like that other idiot Steck that died. That article says he also carried no oxygen. Total moron just asking to die.
He's an idiot because you're too much of a coward to do what he did? You clearly don't understand the mentality of extreme athletes so I'd suggest you not join in conversations about them.
