Thats what happens. When you get old. He's clearly closer to 40 then to 25.
Official from Gen Koe:
"Edward Cheserek, who was pulled from the Penn Relays for this same injury, has been struggling to regain his form since hurting himself trying to carry the entire Oregon team on his back during the NCAA Indoor Championships."
Unfortunate. I would have enjoyed the Knight vs Ches duel.
I know everyone's going to be excited since some fresh faces will win the 5k/10k, but that really sucks for Cheserek. He puts the team on his back for so long, and...that broke his back. Nothing but a team player. Hope he gets better and crushes it as a pro.
Bummer, I was really looking forward to a 28-mid 10K with a quicker final lap from Ches to take another title, so much suspense. /s
Old age is a b!tch.

Would have been great to see knight crush him again over 5k, further diluting this talk as "the greatest of all time". I think all that arm flapping he does probably strained his L2.

Nah he wasn't. He was going to be entered but then he entered in Payton Jordan to run a fast 5k (didn't happen). Just a part of the joke is all

Would have been a three way duel between Ches, Knight and Fisher.

G FISH FOR THE WIN LETS GO BABY
This sucks for him. Hopefully GF will take the reigns now
Big time news coming from Oregon here! The NCAA 5K and 10K seem to be more wide open now
BREAKING: Minor back injury ends Edward Cheserek's Oregon career. The senior's season is over.— Chris Hansen (@chansen_RG) May 21, 2017
Any back doctors on her? What type of injury could it be? It's described as a "back strain" but that seems mild and if it's that mild, then one would think he'd try to run on it.
That being said, any back pain is basically impossible to run with. I've dealt with a little back pain once and it was agonizing.
I'm still salty they never gave Ches the bowerman his freshmen year. He never had world challenging times, but he had the deepest footprint in college distance running history.
