Fortunately I only have one dating horror story, but it was a really bad one. In 1993, I was living in San Francisco and I ran a personals ad on the Sunday San Francisco Examiner back before there were such things as online dating or dating apps. I got a response from a young woman who was a student at SFSU, worked at Olive Garden and was an aspiring actress. After our introductory phone call, we agreed to meet and when we did, we seemed to hit it off. I got together again with her, went to see "Indian Summer" and the date ended great. Later, she invited me to meet up with her friends, but warned me there was one person who was still acting like he had a chance to score with her that would also be there. I grudgingly agreed to meet up with them. That guy turned out to be a real jerk. Finally, we had another phone conversation in which she revealed that one day it got so hot, she drove topless. She also told me she got together with friends at a nearby beach, where there was drinking and that she planted wet ones on three guys. My initial reaction was in denial as I really liked her and was very hurt by what she told me. At some point I accepted that I kissed a toad and went off my way. It was a very bad experience for me personally. Eventually I took myself off the dating market. I concluded that it isn't for me. On a side note, she told me her favorite artist was Madonna. I threw all my Madonna records and CDs in the garbage soon after and have not listened to her music since
