No, that's false. The Boston Marathon, Rodgers winning in 2:09:55, was huge. Do you actually think anyone in the 72 or 76 marathon would have beat Rodgers at Boston in 1975??????????? So if he ran 76 Montreal healthy, he would have bombed????? Bill didn't bomb marathons, he won marathon after marathon. It's about longevity, not one race. He went on to win that race 3 more times. Before the "pro era", the Oly marathon was not THE big race. It was a big race, obviously, but Boston was big as well. Bill didn't run in the 1972 trials or Munich. Bill ran in Montreal on an injured foot. A healthy Bill Rodgers wins Montreal, period (which you will dispute as woulda, coulda, shoulda, as if Bill made an excuse).Bill won 75' Boston in 2:09:55Bill won 76' New York in 2:10:10Shorter could not do that. Bill would have beaten the East German, no doubt about it. Lasse Viren was in New York in 1977...2:19, I guess that doesn't count, but wait, he was 5th in Montreal and beat Rodgers:):):):):):):), so he must be better than Bill, right? You really aren't very bright, are you?
