The film has been reviewed by the LA Times which calls it an "amiable sports drama" that" feels utterly authentic and earnest, even if the latter quality may serve as a turn-off to the more cynical in the audience."
The LA Times also say it's "a funny, sweet movie that explores the struggles of a serious athlete without alienating those whose sneakers are gathering dust in the closet."
The film also has been reviewed by the NY Times which says, "Fact and fiction blend nicely in “Tracktown,†the modest, appealing feature debut of Alexi Pappas."

I'm just curious to see if this can break even.

How much is the Plastic Greek Goddess paying you to keep promoting this crap?
-
Even getting reviewed by those papers seems like a pretty big achievement.

The NYT is about who you know. Their book bestseller list is strictly a clique thing (friend's dad writes a column for the NYT, and lets go with some gossip.) -
Its actually the 8th most popular movie torrent today on ExtraTorrent. 1555 seeders. 4000+ downloads in last 12hrs.
-
I'm not going to watch it because I'm afraid I'll like it.
-
Laemmle in Santa Monica is a big boy venue. I saw a Tim Burton screening there with a Q and A after his film.

Zero. Unlike other website which are often glorified marketing companies that regularly violate FTC rules, we disclose when we are paid. -
John Steiner told me today that it would be a hit!

No. The NYT will review all movies that are screened in a NYC theater (such as Village East) on the day of release (usually Friday). Usually they are made available to critics prior to release so the can be reviewed on day of release.
NYT Wedding announcements are "who you know." -
I watched it with my family last night. Or I should say tried to watch it. We turned it off after trying to watch it for an over an hour. It is not funny and I don't think it was supposed to be. The acting is horrendous except for Andy Buckley, the boss from "the Office", who plays Alexi's father. SNL alum Rachel Dratch plays Alexi's mentally ill mother as if she was in an SNL skit. Nick Symmonds is in it. Some of the dialogue is cringe-worthy -- "Do you think I look like a boy?" -- Alexi asks her love interest.
In addition to Andy Buckley, there are some good things. The camera work is interesting and Alexi (as narrator) uses famous quotes which tie in to what is going in the movie -- which I thought was an interesting touch.
[At some point, I will try to finish the movie. If my review changes, I will let you know.] -

Absolutely!! Good for her. -
This film has "terrible" written all over it.
She's very good at running but decidedly mediocre at all the other things (poems, essays, amen movies) that she does in her attempt to stay relevant.
I understand supporting a fellow runner but this is pure crap Brojos. -
I rallied after a long week and went to the 10:15pm showing in NYC. I joined the 5 other people in the theater. I thought the dialogue was pretty bad, but still enjoyed the movie. There were a good handful of times where the people in the theater were laughing at the jokes. I'm glad I went... but if I wasn't a total track nerd - I would have left before the movie was over.

"Stick to running" -Rotten Tomato

Why is it that when we get a runner who tries to be marketable fellow track fans feel compelled to tear them down.
We need more athletes like Alexi to at least try to get our sport nearer to the mainstream
Gimmick races and personalities might be what we need to save our sport from oblivion. -
don't waste your time or money.
went to see it back in the summer and walked out part way though - the only time I ever did
movie is complete crap - pretty much what I would expect from a 10th grade english project
