They just go down the list of the fastest marathon times. If you don't like the team, other folks needed to have run faster or those who are faster declined.
I think these two teams look pretty strong. Usually Worlds is a little weak in the marathon but Abdi has looked good lately and Amy has been running great since the Trials.
The men are 2,3 and 7 and the women are 4,5 and 7 on the rules of selection depth chart.

I know who all of them are. You should follow the sport more.

Yes, because people are able to turn the spot down. People that will make way more money in a major or have already been there/done that will turn it down.

This is definitely they most stout team we've ever had for the World Championship. It took 2:13:16 and 2:28:20 to make this team. In the past 2:14 and 2:34 would make it.

Do you even know how the team is selected? The option is given to the fastest performers from the year before. So don't blame USATF, blame the athletes.
Agreed, pretty solid team
I think the one of the US women has a shot in medaling, but it depends on the Ethiopian and Kenyan team.
I think Edna Kiplagat wants to be in the team.

Your English is the worst I've ever seen on this site. That's saying quite a bit.

What's so horrible about old discuses?
I think it is a pretty good team. Special congratulations to Bobby Curtis on making a national team for one of the big 2. And he did it completely on merit as the #2 performer last year behind Rupp.
[Bobby had been the only one of the top 10 all-time US 10,000 guys that had never made an Olympic or (Track) World Championship team. The list: Rupp, Solinsky, Meb, Abdi, Nenow, Ritz, CURTIS, Salazar, Nelson and Teg.]
I guess this shows how terrible we are at rhe marathon.
Sending 2:13 guys the world's is kind of pathetic.

The U.S. has the the burden of a fully funded doping agency and out-of-competition testing. It's a huge competitive disadvantage.
Six African nations could have the whole team across the line befor an American
Hell Kenya has 100 guys under 2:10"30 in the window.

Kenya could also have three men in the Rio Olympic 5000m final, but they didn't.
Also, Meb had a PB of 2:10 when he won Olympic silver in 2004.

Curtis' 2:11:20 in Frankfurt and Thweatt's 2:25:38 are the best American times in the window. With 3 people per team, this is how many people in the London field could be faster than that:
Men
Eritrea: 3
Ethiopia: 3
Japan: 3
Kenya: 3
Morocco: 3
Uganda: 3
Belgium: 2
Netherlands: 2
South Africa: 2
Canada: 1
France: 1
Great Britain: 1
Lesotho: 1
Norway: 1
Poland: 1
Spain: 1
Switzerland: 1
Tanzania: 1
Turkey: 1
Ukraine: 1
Zimbabwe: 1
Women
Bahrain: 3
Ethiopia: 3
Japan: 3
Kenya: 3
Australia: 1
Belarus: 1
Portugal: 1
Cannot blame the IAAF they have clear rules.
With a poor performance at Boston (2:17) Meb should go out on top
A guy 17 years his junior (who got beat by 3 random African runners) has a better time in 2017 on a harder course than Boston. (arrs website)
Time to step aside for the next generation
If he finishes top 50% I will be impressed
And in the year 2017, the US sends a 2:18 Kenyan to the world championships

Maiyo just ran 2:13 in Boston.
