German Fernandez is back training under coach Smith at Ok St from what I've seen. He opened his track season with a 3:41 1500 to win by over four seconds. Very encouraging result. Hope to see him turn things around. He should have left Jerry a long time ago.

I could make this a lot more blunt, but other than Ryan Vail, is there anyone who has run for Dave at OKstate and gone on to have an even halfway decent professional career? With all the talent they have gotten over the last 8 years, does nobody find that peculiar?

Is it really different than say Stanford or Oregon? OkState has had some good runners but there are not many that scream pro runner. It isn't like they have a dozen guys who won national titles (or at least finished top3) and then dropped off the map. They have had a bunch of national class runners in college but you wouldn't expect many of them to take the next step.

Really a good point. Vail and Kipchirchir have done well, but there just hadn't been many that one would think would do well in the pros. Compare that to Wheating or Mac Fleet or the Rosa twins, for example.
Oregon has pumped out quite a few solid pro athletes. Wisconsin pumped out a ton back when Jerry was there. Arkansas... Colorado... Maybe it's not fair to compare OKstate to those programs though.
Getting back on track, I did anyone know German was still running? This is a promising result, especially considering it's only early May. It'd be great to seem him running mid 3:30s this year. I wish him the best.
