What's your guess?

I was stood up by my date tonight because of the weather but this is better than a date now that I think about it.
Honestly, what's the better decision...go out and drunk with buddies to celebrate cinco de mayo or watch this? I'm up in the air...
I have beer and nachos waiting.

Doped to the gills? Where are you getting that from? Doesn't it bother you to make slanderous statements with zero proof?
DPL wrote:As I recall reading, they'll have a pace car, and if they'll be able to draft the car, I do wonder how much of an advantage that will give. That advantage, along with being doped to the gills + cheater shoes + time trial effort + readily available nutrition = it'll be really close.
I hate to break it to you, but Santa Claus isn't real. I figured this out on my own without needing anyone to tell me, or having to travel to the North Pole to actually see for myself.

But if you don't keep pushing the envelope how can you expect great things to happen?
Bekele is not in the race, therefore, there is no reason to expect great things.

This. I don't even question that they'll get the WR, but am thankful it won't count.
Just think - you're taking the best marathoner in the world who has run very close to the WR, putting him on an easy course with few real turns, taking wind out of the equation, ensuring they don't push too hard early...I don't believe the shoes make a difference, but either way. This is going to be an incredible run, just not sub - 2
I'm sort of with you. I think he's that rare athlete who is capable of doing something that was thought to be impossible. Roger Bannister was one. He is another. I think he's got the mental strength to take on this challenge and maximize.
One question is whether he was bullsh-tting when he said that he'd run his 59:xx tuneup on that track at 60%. Hard to believe he wasn't exaggerating a little. But even if he was running at 80 or 85%, which is what I suspect--well, it should and will be a very interesting evening.
The race goal can be helped along by a small measuring error of lets say 400m to 800m. Measurement verification probably won't happen.
Does Kipchoge get a massive bonus if he breaks 2? If not, I can't imagine he'd be willing to suffer as much as he and the others have to run 2:02/2:03. The motivation in those races was enormous as they were not only attacking the WR, but also struggling for the win.
Thank you!!
I have the YouTube link up now and it says only 502 people have the page open. Not sure if this is only in my country or not (and I know it's still about 90 minutes away), but this seems like an awfully disappointing number.
It just jumped to 541, but still...
Rather watch this than the event in ISIS-loving Qatar
Count down to a feat beyond comprehension....

541 losers who have nothing but better to do for 90 minutes 🤗🤗🤗
The number will be much higher when the show begins
Naw, I'm good. But I do want to share a website for free live streaming of all
Diamond league meets and marathon majors...
http://www.watchathletics.com/schedule/cat/2
I will continue to post free websites for viewing track meets because no one needs to pay. and I will just change VPN's and my I.D, so I can post here.
Good luck in your fantasy whatever...
I predict sub 2... followed by a thorough letsrun analysis outing Nike as cheating somehow (a la mike rossi) and bringing eternal fame to the website
So, out of curiosity, how close to 2.4000000km is this loop? Does the Race-Car world care about this kind of accuracy?
Discus.
Does anybody know the plan?:- do they run at 2:00 pace and then DNF if they're falling off pace? If 2:00 passes and they haven't finished, do they quit? What's the point of running a 2:01:50 if it isn't eligible for a WR? What's the point of finishing with a 2:03:17?
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
