On pace for 23 miles, which will be heroic.
Then a tough last 5k.
I give all of them credit for doing something different.
Why be the same?

DNF for all 3, they all will fall off the pace WELL BEFORE 30km
I was about to post the same thing. I was going to say DNF at 15 miles.
If I'm understanding this whole attempt correctly, they whole goal is sub-2, not merely breaking the WR. They will be running 4:34/mile from the start. They will crash and burn between miles 15-18.

Prediction? The Tesla lead car malfunctions and breaks down on the spot after about 90 minutes. All the runners run into it a crashes in a heap of entangled legs. Tesla stock crashes. Elon Musk goes bankrupt 1:59:45 later.
+1. Good for a laugh. But I'm a Musk fan-boy.

Just jumping in here, but after watching Kipchoge's 2:03:05 I think 2:01:59 is in the realm of possibilities.
I predict the Nike live feed will be a Rick Roll
Not going to read all the thread, so apologies if I repeat what's been said. I've read some "experts" saying if the first half is 1:00:00, then Kipchoge falls off the pace to around 2:02:40. I think that's overly optimistic. That assumes he could run sub 2:02 with perfect pacing, and going out in 1:00:00 makes him positive spilt by just a little.
I think the penalty for running 1:00:00 when 1:01:30 might be optimal for him to run, say, 2:02:45, is greater; that if he finishes he's outside 2:04, maybe 2:06.
But I predict 3 DNF, with a "worlds best" at 30k.
I hope they break 2 just because of how negative everyone is being. Not us fans, but the "experts" like brojos and Magness et al.
Read his post again numb nuts.

I think they are being realistic, not negative.
Temps at 5:45 am local time are supposed to be mid 50's. Not perfect, but ok.
The biggest difference between this race and Berlin or Dubai is having fresh pacers throughout the race until the end. Also, no tactics.
The lead vehicle will have a "current pace" display so it should be very easy to run extremely constant pace.
Not sure about the shoes. I doubt the 4% improvement but even 1% would be HUGE.
And yes, everyone of you clowns will be these Nikes shoes in a few weeks when they come out - if they break the 2. Better save up for those $250.

No, if they went out in 62 they'd have to come back in 57:59, breaking the 1/2 world record by 33 seconds after running a 62.
I hope most of guys are trolls or just dumb high school runners. Only a few posters seem to actually get it. It's almost 3 minutes faster than the world record.
I thought this forum was full of real runners for the most part. Yes, I'm fairly new here, about 6 months, but geez guys, please get real.

yeah, I guess I was being an a$$hole
DNF. They'll abort the attempt when they realize it's not going well.
I'm not thinking they will finish. If they go out in 59:58 or so, I'm thinking Eluid will try to stick on pace as long as possible then DNF. My bet is 17-18 miles, I'd be surprised to see 20. Also, I don't think the slowdown will be sub1hr/63 mins, I think the wheels will fall off a whole lot harder if he is to finish.
Remember, a 4:41 mile is 7 seconds "off pace"...

Realistic seems negative in the world of the brainless.
Watched that video of them running those 2k and 1k repeats. Nothing in that workout shows that anyone is close to running sub 2.

I think you should check that again. I have no idea how to do an IP check, but I can assure you that I'm not anotherguy88. You should check your methods before making these sorts of claims.
