Would EPO get them 13:30-sub 14 range? Would they be able to go 30:00 or better 10k?
How long does EPO take to kick in?

22 seconds.
Elites got 6-10% improvement from epo. I'm not 100% sure on the numbers but it is on this site if you search for it. Depending on your training and health it differs from 6-20%(?) improvement.
Epo kicks in instantly, it is like heroin. Shot right into the bloodstream giving life to new red blood cells allowing your body to over-perform.
Not even close. More like 14:40. That stuff helps but by small margins. Granted, small margins make all the difference for the world class. But an average 15:00 guy would still be average, but now at 14:40.
I would think it'd depend on your training. If you trained like a professional and had no more room to grow and 15 was the absolute max, epo wouldn't gain that much. If you still had a lot of room to grow and you just haven't trained to your potential due to time constraints or Injury, epo might help a ton.
That's just a guess. Maybe someone with more knowledge on the subject could say if im off track or not

If this is true then mathematically you can prove that EPO is basically useless for elites. Renato's correct.

According to this study, about ~6% with a moderate dose:

Generally the 15.00 women get down to 14.40 fairly quickly on EPO. There is ongoing imprvement because the runner can bang out harder training than before. The problem is whether your biomechanics can keep up.
So, basically, none of you imbeciles know what you're talking about then, right?
Cathal Lombard:
30:00 to 27:30 (and 14:30 to 13:18)
Lombard was a 13:58 guy before going on EPO.
Always thought the culprit was Ad money
There is a sufficiently large segment that go for the eulogy ... even though they will never hear it.
I am in the camp where it does not matter to me if someone takes it but doing well is still important to me. I would not want to jeopardize success in other endeavors for success in running, alone. I appreciate people who run for themselves, not for coach, club, sponsor or country.

Holy Moley, he must have been sleeping at night in a bathtub full of the stuff.
Watchout Rekrunner will turn up here soon and claim that EPO had no relationship to his massive improvement.
So could it make a 2:40 marathoner into a 2:19 marathoner? If so, then why not try to make the trials with an EPO boost? Decent chance you wont be drug tested anyway.

Did you read the other post? It says his improvement was not that large.
worth it????? wrote:

Why not? Because some people don't like cheating.

Or making the trials is not a massive achievement. The trials are to select the team not an end in themselves.
I'd say the improvement is about 20 seconds for 5,000m as that's how much they suddenly improved by when EPO was introduced.

Holy Moley is right! Sounds like he was a super high-responder to rocket fuel. Somebody get a review paper on this and get it published in a journal:
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/olympics/i-took-epo-to-have-an-equal-chance-says-athlete-51094.html"In the past 18 months, the 28-year-old runner from Cork has improved his 10,000 metres personal best by three minutes and two seconds, clocking an Irish record of 27min 33.53sec in Stanford, California, earlier this year, and qualifying for the Olympics at both 5,000m and 10,000m."
Yikes! 😨
