Week total: 47 miles
Kept the week pretty easy since Saturday will be the last race I will run for 5+ weeks. I took 2nd behind a former teammate in the 3k. There was no clock so I wasn't sure of pace, but I heard my first mile was 4:49. I felt strong but I was a little complacent the last few laps. Had I known my 2600m time maybe I would have went a little faster, but I was also running in no man's land after 1000m. The 1k only had me and one other guy in it, and I was seeded 20 seconds ahead of him. I didn't really want to run the 1k but decided I'd just try to get in a hard effort anyways. No warmup at all, I just spiked up and walked to the starting line. Ran 2:42 with splits of 32, 31, 32, 36, 31. I could easily run a lot faster but I'm happy to get in a little effort.
Since I have no real races for a little while, I'll try to focus on getting in solid training this next month. I'll start to transition into a little more speed work with more CV intervals and mile-800m pace stuff. Nothing ball-busting, but something to transition to. I'll hopefully keep the mileage decently high, around 55-65mpw, but its nothing I am going to fret about. I've PRd in both the 5k and 3k recently so my endurance isn't bad. I just need to bridge the gap and get ready for mile - 800m races.
