Furthermore, your post explicitly claims that Isaiah's not ready for a 1:43 effort ... that it was impossible.

Furthermore, based on your analysis, that prior to taking the baton either Isaiah or Coach Gondak concluded that Isaiah ... a OT finalist ... can't take down a Freshmen with a 1:47 PR. Not even worth trying ... why freaking bother?
We have an OT finalist that just cranked a 1:45 and "the best that he could do" at Penn Relays was a 1:51 anchor .... I'm calling BS!
I didn't say that 1:51 is the best he could do. I said that second place was likely the best he could have done. If you choose to read anything more into my comment, I guess that's up to you.
- You stated an assumption ... that Isaiah would have had to run a 1:43 for the win because VPI Freshmen Patrick Joseph (1:46-1:47 guy) "had something left in the tank to run a bit faster if pushed." This implies that you don't believe Isaiah could have run a 1:43 & you basically stated he was running for 2nd.
- I'm asking is their something wrong with Isaiah? 1:51 anchor leg at Penn is a problem.
- Unless we see significant improvement by Ole Miss' Craig Engeles OR another "Break Through-like" runner, then Isaiah is the "Great American Hope" at NCAA 800 meters this Spring versus UTEP's (Kenya) Manny K. He's got to be ready to roll hot into 1:43 territory ....
- A 1:51 Penn Relays split = a missed opportunity to simulate race conditions required to compete with Manny K
Why are you constantly so quick to jump to conclusions? Relax. Theres a lot we don't know in these situations, lets just wait and see how it develops before getting so argumentative
Drew Piazza ran an amazing 3rd leg for VT that blew the race open in the 4x8. As everyone has said on this thread it would have been nearly impossible for Penn State to come back and win the race.
Isaiah had the 4x4 an hour later in which he came back and split 45.8 to almost walk down the Auburn anchor for the win:
1 Auburn 3:05.19 Randall Ceneus (47.4), Teray Smith (46.3), Akeem Bloomfield (44.82), Nathon Allen (46.63) AA
2 Penn State 3:05.69 Dan Chisena (47.4), Xavier Smith (45.8), Tyreek Mathis (46.64), Isaiah Harris (45.80)
He is obviously ok.
- OK, now I understand .... did not notice him in 4 x 400: agree that 45.8 is good!
