if he wanted to make a statement, it was not done in his 1st race after missing games
similarly for keitany, you seem to have missed that she ran an epic 65'13 in february behind jepchirchir's then WR of 65'06
she did not make a statement performance just in february but done it twice, so your assertion is wrong
as for kennster, as he missed rio, the only race he was going to run that year after that miss was going to be berlin & nothing inbetween

physics is not generous but it offers "even-pace" conversion for races which start fast & slow but not very good for -ve splitting
