I have had toe nail fungus for about three months now, used an over the counter medication (fungnail) but it hasn't helped. Any suggestions on how to get rid of toe nail fungus? And do I need to throw away all my socks and get new ones?

I had it on 1 toe under the nail for a long time. I tried soaking my foot in bleach water, various home remedies, over the counter sprays etc. No real success.
Finally when I was at the doctor for another matter I asked about this. He prescribed a pill. It took about a month, but it worked.
I also kept using OTC sprays at the same time and washed my shoes and had anti fungal powder in them all the time. I also sprayed them with Lysol (inside and out). Side not on that: made shoes less smelly.
In the end it worked, has been about 2 years and it has not returned. I do still spray my feet once in a while though, just in case.
Thanks. Do you remember what medication you were prescribed?
My doc (she is also a runner) told me to use Vaseline for a couple of months.
It worked.

I THINK it was the pill version of Lamisil. As I recall, and I am not 100% certain I recall correctly, I took a pill every day for a period of time. This is different than a prior pill I had taken for the same thing that I took in "pulses." For that medication, I took a 1 week "pulse" then stopped for a week and then did another pulse. That regimen appeared to be working at the time, but I moved and stopped taking the pills mid treatment and it returned.
I also think I took a blood test before and during to make sure it did not cause any liver problems. I had no issues with the medication.
As for as the Vaseline recommendation, I have heard of others doing that with mixed results. I did not try that so don't have any information/experience on that.
I had fungus mostly on one big toenail for years. Didn't want to take the oral drugs for such a minor problem and folk remedies (mentholatum on the toenail every day for months) had no effect. Then I completely blackened that toenail in a series of hard hill workouts, and finally the nail just fell off. Problem solved.
My left big toenail was infected and nothing would help. I finally just ripped it off with a pair of needle nose pliers. Hurt and bled but it never got infected again.
I have it on 3 of my smaller toes. I tried tea tree oil for a couple of months and it did nothing. I suspect a prescription of something is the only way that it will be cured, but I'm not motivated enough to go that route.
The oral medication is terbinafine. Regimen is daily for 12 weeks. Only about a 60 percent success rate.
Key, though rare, risk is liver injury.
There is a topical option, ciclopirox, which calls for 48 weeks of treatment, and lower efficacy than the pill.
Someone else told me to try Vics Vapor Rub, so I might give that a try.
anyone else have success with it?
Strictly cosmetic and causes no problems. I also see zero point in taking anti-fungals for some stupid toenails. Those drugs are pretty hardcore for something that is harmless and covered up 99% of your life.
Lotrimin the $hit out of your feet daily man. Multiple times daily
HAVE TOU TRIED BAKING SODA!?
I've had it for more then 20 years. Tried the Lamisil pill. Didn't help. Tried Vicks, Vinegar, Coconut Oil, Lavendar Oil, Tee Tree Oil, & daily warm cornmeal mush soaks. Did not help. I'm still trying the soaks every other day, followed by DMSO, and tea tree oil. It has only been a week, but it looks like it's doing something to my nails. The ones wt the fungus, ar becoming very white & soft. At first it looked like it was making the fungus worse, but now it appears to not only be both killing the fungus but also the entire effected nail. Those nails were so bad, the fungus was a part of them, inside and out. I 'think' that w/o killing the entire nail, the fungus will not be taken care off. Hopefully this will work. IDK

I have heard to smear Vaseline on toenails then wear sock to bed. The sock works as a fumigate.

+1! I really don't like putting drugs into my body unless absolutely necessary and in this case, it isn't necessary especially with potential for some damage to internal organs.
Just go to your doctor and get a prescription for Lamisil. I had bad fungus for years and tea tree oil and vaseline did nothing except make the nails softer. Lamisil cleared it up really quick and it hasn’t come back 15 years later...wish I had done that way sooner.

This^
Its one pill a day for like 60 days. In the time and dollars you will waste with all the home remedies you could already be over with it for good with the pill.

thanks. haven't tried that one.
There are a lot of treatments but not for every person, it is useful. I had the fungal nail infection and I didn't pay much attention to it and my nails were in a hard situation. I was to many doctors and each of them gave me different types of treatment. I tried many and only one helped me. I can advise you to use the treatment from https://www.protectair.eu/blog/best-fungal-nail-treatment/ it is one of the best and you can treat this problem in a month. Moreover, after treatment, they advise you to take care of your nails that so as not to reinfect them.
