I was wondering what is the cause of some college runners burning out or not reaching their potential. I know a college lifestyle and a lack of passion would be a major cause but I'm mainly asking about training. Do you think it is intensity, speed work, or high mileage. For example which is worse 35-40 mile weeks with intense workouts like 10-12 400s at mile pace or 65-75 mile weeks with lower intensity workouts. Sorry if those are bad examples but hopefully you get what I am going for.
