The latest word is those shredded feet are all down to his non-coach and running gear sponsor Neil Featherby.
Neil had a few pairs of crap shoes in his sports shop he couldn't move so gave them to Dave. Bad move Neil.
But never mind, Dave will be back, as he says if at first you don't succeed blah, blah, blah.
From now on Dave's going to stick to hiking training for the next LEJOG attempt. You know, those 30 mile hikes in full combat gear the Royal Air Force Reserve make their 49 year old mechanics do as military training.
Dave said in his video interview on YOU TUBE that he had some " black toenails on feet" issues at the beginning of his ultra-training…but that he had solved that issue and it was not a problem.
Dave also said that he did up to 280 miles per week in training. Dave said that he ran 40 Miles per day for 10 DAYS IN A ROW…and his longest run in training was 150 MILES IN 30 HOURS ( = 12:00 min per mile for 150 miles and 30 hours IN A ROW WITH NO BREAKS…even though Dave has an actual marathon PR of 5:04 ( = 11:36 per mile for only 26 miles 385 yards)
Dave did a Tactical Advance into Battle (TAB) …and was obliterated by a bunch of REAL UltraRUNNNING missiles.
1) On Day 1: Dave walked 49 miles at about 17:30 per mile.
2) On Day 2: Dave got in a van and drove 11 miles with his Ultra GPS Tracker going at speeds between 32 and 64 Miles Per Hour…because of a traffic diversion. Dave then stopped walking and started RIDING A BIKE DURING HIS ULTRA RUN…because his feet hurt…and Terrie said that is OK because Dave can do whatever he wants during this UltraRun because...it is for charity.
3) On Day 3: Dave quit the UltraRun at about 10:30 am with ZERO mileage on Day 3 because of a sudden family emergency of their driver. We are sorry about that... because these things can happen.
4) I can't think of any other UltraRun in all of recorded human history on this planet when anyone started USING A BIKE ON DAY 2.
5) …and then Terrie says that is OK…because anything is OK...if the UltraRun is for charity.
6) For example: Brit Robert Young (MarathonManUKâ„¢)
