Potentially Suspicious Runner To Run 836 Miles in 9 Days for "Charity"

I wonder if we can get some comments or messages from Duncan Slater about all this since we have seen from the YouTube videos, Facebook posts, and now this 2013 fundraiser page that he is somehow connected to the Readings. Perhaps unintentionally through Walking With the Wounded. I would be interested to hear his perspective on this 2013 fundraiser as well as the current LEJOG.

And I would also like to know if Walking With the Wounded used donation money to pay for Duncan's and other people's trip "to the South Pole this December with Prince Harry and the rest of the UK Team". This is important stuff, people. All you Facebook and Twitter trolls get to work.

OK, we've all had our fun and games here, but the one thing no one seems to be considering is Prince Harry's role in all this. His good name had been prominently associated with this farce and there's a good chance his reputation may be harmed as a result. Shouldn't someone at least notify him of this fiasco so that his office may issue an appropriate statement? Something along the lines of respecting the charity but distancing himself from this debacle. After all, the honor of the British Royal Family may be at stake here. Why doesn't somebody help the poor man?

This story hasn't hit the British media. Even most runners don't seem to have heard of this scam. But yeh, i think Harry should be told, as he's patron of Walking With The Wounded. They have been told, but i doubt they will care.

None of the sponsors will do anything. There is a certain something called charity extortion and charity intimidation. It is not direct and forceful extortion & intimidation, but it is implied. Try, as a business, to say no to a charity and see what negative publicity you get. Dave knew this going in.

They were misled though. The sponsors signed up for something that could never have happened. You could certainly prove in a civil court that the "balance of probability" shows he could never have completed a LEJOG in world record time.

He could still end up in a criminal court for fraud, because fiddling a funded trip and loads of free gear is benefiting financially from a scam, and that is fraud . Watch this space - Might happen.

Re English Language - 3/10 to Terrie for trying but plenty of room for improvement.

Now the fraud accusation is a different thing, they must be keeping accounts and these must be available for scrutiny by the authorities in UK, mustn't they? There must be some kind of government department for overseeing this sort of thing to make sure there's no scam involved, isn't there? UK social security who provide their benefits payments would also be interested if they making money out it, wouldn't they? And then there's the sponsors tax deductible contributions, these would have to be available for scrutiny too, wouldn't they?

So many questions.

Also, only a moron would make a post like that complaining about the address and saying " I am going to advise that the authorities be called.", the authorities would ask who was the moron who posted it on the net via their Facebook, Instagram, etc and made it public information in the first place.

Do you think they would be dumb enough to document exactly why there was only "£50" total raised offline at a multi-sponsor shin dig with live entertainment, prizes, and free food? I don't think so.
