Wardian ran a 2:29:46!!
Chris seems like one of the most genuine guys there is. He is such a free spirit, that doing this attempt is probably not massively important for him.
He's run a 2:15 marathon before, so whether this is his limit or not, he should be applauded for the sheer mental effort needed to run that many laps around a track. It makes running a 5000 indoors seem weak. Wheres the mental strength needed in that? We all know running is a hugely mental sport.
The NYC Indoor Marathon event is an incredibly fun, end of Indoor season, charity event to help support "College Prep" for city kids who run track. Only its 2nd year.
It is mainly a relay event with the Individual World Record attempt in the middle as an attention-gainer for legit runners. The race is definitely open to all the jokesters and Kenyans who think it is an easy training run.
Doing a 4-man relay well (each runner can run 3 times) takes a little thought too. Friday night had a bar and food set up, truly a cool event.
I can't tell from the picture, but there's no way he wore spikes right?
Actually the wr holder for fastest marathon on a tredmill was in this race as well, he finished third.

Apparently it's 2:21:40. Only seven seconds faster.

Another Dartmouth XC alum, Rex Woodbury, also had the world record for fastest 1/2 marathon in a suit at one point in time.
Dartmouth running alumni are doing impressive stuff.

I'm digging it, flaggy baby.
Is that the same pretentious Brit that does the New Balance High School Nationals and the Nike Cross Regionals? That particulary pretentious Brit makes all pretentious Brits look bad. He is deserving of his own thread.

The title is midleading
Hah. His is nothing. When doing indoor marathons, you must run till you nearly die.
Ian Fruzzbuster.
The single most annoying man in track and field.
NYRRC and Norm loved him.
Maybe he can seque to working in a bodega or something.
An annoying man.
Guessing no runner from Africa ever taking the indoor courses as a serious competitive event would be the reason for an American being the record holder now.
Love this reply! On point! hahah
i went to the same running camp as chris twelve years back. nice person, glad he got a record.
Some quick profiles on Chris. His past training has inclded rock hurl lunges. The rock is about 40 pounds and he named it Matt Pelletier as a way to motivate myself while getting ready for Vermont City a few years back. I can get behind this guy.

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
