And to think he wasn't even wearing the shoes that may soon be banned.

Did he come back from being lapped? That would have been epic.
Record legal track?
The real question is why is the Marathon WR on a track only 2:21? Probably because most people aren't stupid enough to want to run 200 times around a 200m track, or the others died in boredom trying.

Hilarious.
They will do anything to be a World Record Holderâ„¢.
This is a training run effort for an elite Kenyan... on a dirt road... with lots of ruts…at 7,000 ft. altitude.
Is this an American runner joke???
Answer:
Yes.
This is an American Runner joke.

Nice! Kinda made it interesting coming within 8 second of not getting the record. Kudos!

No, but the women's winner did. Jeez, that British announcer they use is the most pretentious snot around.
The first sub-elite African to run it indoors will break this "WR" but over 5 minutes. Enjoy it while you can..
The indoor marathon was broadcasted for free from the Armory web site and it was fun to watch. In the final two miles of the man's race Chris had to dig really deep to get the record and even my kids that don't give a shit about running were excited to see if he could break it. In the woman's marathon the winner came back from being lapped and that was also fun.
It would be great to get some stronger competition, but this is mostly a charity event so I do not forecast the prize money (6K for winning and breaking the record) to grow substantially in the future.

Says the typical Letsrun armchair critic who's probably a 2:30+ marathoner/BQ qualifier and wears your Boston jacket with pride everywhere. Keep making your $250,000/yr salary at some boring @ss job and being a typical smug American a-hole. A-hole.
Y'know it doesn't do much good to change your handle when you write in the exact same way for every post
-11/10
Pathetic attempt, even by LRC standards.

Awesome - did she look relaxed too?
A complaint has been filed. During the 133rd lap he apparently overstepped the rail line by almost an inch.
This is true, i was there and saw that. Was wondering if someone would protest it. Maybe not if he did not get the wr, but since he did it was surely protested. I heard he was going to be DQ for that. Which would have Tony M. As the winner and WR would still be Malcolm Richards at 2:21:55 not 2:21:47.
We will see very soon!
Would they seriously DQ someone for adding distance on to the record? lol Running can be the dumbest thing ever sometimes.
What's next? The "Marathon WR" for treadmills?
Just needs IAAF sanctioning wrote:

Apparently it's 2:21:40. Only seven seconds faster.
