.
Ocala police said he opened the cover of the cage and the snake jumped at him and then slid away. The man called the owner who rushed home. When they couldn't find the snake in the concealed room, they called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
I suspect that this idiot won't be issued a license anytime soon.
Good lord. We had a cobra get out in Orlando a couple years ago like this!
A friend of mine is trying to get his license in Florida to keep venomous snakes. Though he is very knowledgeable about snakes and I am sure would take expert care of them, he is also one of the most clumsy and forgetful people I know. I totally foresee him getting his license and some mamba or something sneaking out of its cage. Not good.

Why??? Your friend has serious issues. It's bad enough to take a wild animal captive needlessly, and then the animal is a freakin venomous reptile. Yes, your friend is a moron, neelessly putting others' lives at risk.
But I guess some people need anything to strengthen their fragile ego.
He has a background in zoology and wants to rehab injured animals and breed snakes for the purpose of selling them to reputable institutions and other licensed keepers. I've had pet non-venomous reptiles myself but I'm not an expert, so I won't judge his goals. Again, he has the education and background and has worked in zoos to know what he's doing in theory, but I do kinda hope he sticks to the non-venomous animals.
Most people with the license are not D&D obsessed overgrown teens with huge comic book collections looking to be cool, but people who often have serious education on animals (some have PhDs or DVMs even). However, I do feel these permits are still too easy to get and too many are issued.
Pretty sure that venomous snakes are fine at home without being put in an institution to be gawked at and handled by humans who think they know better than they themselves know.
Zoos for what? Not every animal in a zoo is endangered or threatened. Some are just there for the amusement of slow-witted humans. A venomous snake doesn't have many predators and can handle their own populations without human intervention
I mean, I am not really going to argue this matter one way or the other, I see your points, my friend's expertise by far exceeds my own on this topic. So I don't know, really. The fewer people in possession of animals which, if they escape, are a danger to the public, would seem the better, though.
You do Realize that Schultz is an idiot... don't you?
King Cobra FTW

But who's the bigger idiot, him or John Utah? My vote is for Utah, that dude is beyond stupid. Both are top 5?
Of course this happened in FL
What's with throwing shade at D&D, bro? Take your bigotry to St. Elsewhere.

The way you need to judge and insult people you know nothing about.
