Kalamazoo, Michigan -- The Western Michigan University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the hiring of Rebecca Bishop as the assistant women's cross country/track and field coach. She will specialize in cross country and the distance events in track.
Bishop comes to Western Michigan after spending the 2001-02 season as the head coach at Bangor High School in Bangor, Mich. She guided both the cross country and the track and field teams to Red Arrow Conference championships. For her efforts, she was named the coach of the year during the spring. Prior to that, Bishop was the head cross country/track and field coach at St. Monica Elementary school in Kalamazoo, working exclusively with seventh and 8th grade students.
