He has shown great range and his ability to close in championship races is unparalleled in NCAA history. Assuming he gets US citizenship how good do you think he can be? His best event now is probably the 5k.
I think he can be a world beater with the right coaching/mentorship. He destroyed Lawi Lalang indoors the summer after Lawi ran 13:00 and the season he ran 3:52. That was three years ago. Since then the most notable occurrences are when he DOESN'T win. He ran 13:18 three years ago in a championship race and has run 3:52 already this year. I expect he will run under 13 for 5k if he time trials this year.
How good will Edward Cheserek be once he leaves Oregon?

He won't be good at all. He just lost to a freshman. "World-beaters" don't lose to freshman. Worst runner in the NCAA. I predict a DFL if he were to ever qualify for any U.S. final in any event (which he won't).
-
Except he's not. Paralleled by a freshman from New Mexico under a roof, Lalang on the outdoor oval, and tiernan/knight over hill and dale. Look for him to get his US citizenship, join NOP, and be a consistent 13.0x guy.

You are essentially criticizing him for not winning every single race. He has more titles than any runner in NCAA history. Mo Ahmed had zero titles, nor was he ever really in the hunt in the final stages of a race, and he is one of the best runners on the planet right now. Paul Chelimo never won a title, and he got a silver at the Olympics. Bernard Lagat didn't dominate the NCAA system. I don't think it's a given that Cheserek will be a world champion, but a few losses does not mean he won't.

Chez will dominate masters competition.

He will be great, he will be fast, he will win he will not be popular with most American people.
He's no Mo Farah, Meb Keflezighi, Ashton Eaton or Mohammed Ahmed (BTC)
those guys are likeable by everybody. Ed is likeable by 50% of the population LOL -
He's done. Stick a fork in him.

Ches should work on his English, that accent is horrible.

Less good than Kip Lagat

King Ches will do Great Things.

PR's of 3:34 (1500), and 13:08 (5000).
Will essentially share the same PR's of Grant Fisher by 2025. -

except Cheserek will have 19 NCAA championships and Fisher will be on the Payton Solinsky Wall of fame as an all time great time trialer.
That of course assumes Fisher survives Stanford coaching and gets to show his mettle as a time trial specialist -

winning NCAA is only meaningful if you are IN college
after that, who G.A.S. ? -
Isn't there a bunch of Kenyans his age who can run his time w/o all the pampering and the glory?

There isn't a bunch of Kenyans of any kind.
Indeed, there isn't a bunch of anything. -

I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts. -
Really thought the King would win the mile indoors after setting the Collegiate record early in the year. But at least he got 2nd and won the 5 k and 3 k not to shabby. Considering the king is almost a lock to win the 5 k and 10 k outdoors what is that 21 total NCAA Championships for King Ches not to shabby. Haters will hate but that what happens when the King be the G O A T..

That wasn't 13 flat Lawi Lalang he beat indoors. Lawi came back and showed Ches his heels outdoors in the 5000m.
That said, I should expect Ches to have a more successful post collegiate career than Lawi has had to this point. I think a lot of it will depend on what group he runs for after college.
Also, I don't see him getting in a time trial and running sub 13 this year. Would love for him to prove me wrong.
