Making personal attacks that I do not respect the 800 metres and stating, "Perhaps you need to have more respect for reality as well," doesn't make you right. This sounds person. Have we met? If you were to state that I do not believe XC is necessary to race 800 metres well, that may be correct.
McLaughlin is a public figure who does interviews so I guess it's ok to discuss her. This morning, I took a look at Athletic.net. I DID FIND a few high school girls who raced 2017 indoor season who raced 400 metres 58.75 to 59.25 and also raced 800 metres 2:15-something. Since they're just high school kids, I am not going to name them. Not every 400 metres person will average 8 1/2 seconds slower per 400 metres for 800 metres, but many athletes will. I named two 400 metres athletes who raced roughly 8 1/2 seconds slower per 400 metres for 800 metres. I stated Edwin Moses & Jearl Miles Clark.
This wasn't my thread. I was not the first person to state McLaughlin is capable of racing sub-2 800 metres on this thread. This is a worthless argument. McLaughlin will spend the summer attempting to make the USA team for 400mH.
I am sure I can find thousands of 400 metres athletes who average 8 1/2 seconds slower for their 800 metres pace. Stating anecdotal evidence of a few 400 metres athletes who couldn't race 8 1/2 seconds slower for their 800 metres pace doesn't make you right.
