National indoor record, first ever under 16 indoors. Two years ago she was playing soccer instead. What a phenomenal talent.

Just saw this and came on here to celebrate....holy crap
So she ran, what, a PR of 16:44 at the totally flat Liberty Bell Cross Invite in the fall (course record), which is basically like a road course but at 5,400'. Yep, no conversion for altitude to sea level, nothing to see here, move along folks...
Congrats Brie Oakley!
Holy crap. I didn't do that until college and I ended up running 13:54. Damn.
7 straight years the girls national 5000 indoor record has been set at NB.

Yes, and that only makes Brie's record even more impressive- she DOMINATED Weini Kelati's time from last year! Didn't she take 13-something odd seconds off of the record? Unbelievable. #runlikeagirl
And she didn't seem to have much competition. Second place for 16:48. If she had someone to run with she might of ran faster. I can totally see her breaks 15:45 outdoors. I hope she break 10 tomorrow for the 2 mile. No reason why she can't.
She would qualify for the NCAA indoor championships 5000m on her time I think too. I wish her the best.
Brie has a very bright future ahead of her! If she keeps this up she may just have a shot at taking down Cain's HS 5k record. She could definitely run faster if she had competition to push her.
Really? Need to make it about you? Sigh ok....you da man, Mr. 13:54.
She will be attending college at UCal Berkeley. Alas.

Her time would have been 8th at NCAA. With people to run with she could have had a shot at the outdoor time.
Jesus... amazing!!
