I'm impressed by Virginia Tech's strong men's indoor track squad so far this year. Anybody know about the coaching/training situation at that school?
They just got 2nd in the ncaa dmr with a 4:14 guy, a 1:52. guy, and a 4:09 guy (HS times). that's pretty impressive..[/quote]
Those are solid high school times. And I've heard in their interviews that the coach peaks them well for championship meets, don't really time trial during the year like some teams do. I'll give what I think based off times.
Jaskowak- Looks like he ran pretty quick times each year of high school and is really hitting his stride now with Tech
Cianfarini- Pretty solid speed, looks like the 800 is his best event just hasn't hit his breakthrough race
Piazza- Transfer from New Hampshire, went to NCAAs for the 800. Good speed
Gourley- Good range, came from Scotland and did very well over there, competitive for European Championships
Ciattei- Legit speed(47-48 sec 400, 1:47 800) with a great kick.Split 3:58 in dmr and outkicked Wynne at ACC's and Heppenstall last year in the 800
Joseph- Another with great speed (1:46 800). Ran top high school times despite not having an indoor track season
Zarate- Really good range. 38-300 and 49-400 in high school up to 23rd at ACC's in xc. Another one with a good kick and wouldn't be surprised if he's winning national championships by the end of his tech career
