Jail? Yes. Prison? Hell no.

i figure I have 17 years left of work for a retirement. I would do 5 years for 5 million and quit working when I got out.
No way! I wouldn't get out until I'm 59, so I probably wouldn't have much more than 20 years left to live.
I would consider it if prison has good reading material, but one has to consider the possibility of 30 million dollars being worth next to nothing in 30 years.
"That"
I would rather just make $1 million year and not be in jail. It's totally doable, IF YOU WANT TO.Most people rely on others to provide for them. If you want something, go get it. Making a million is easy these days....

11. Unlimited women
Make it five years and you've got yourself a deal.
You do realize you are dead for a very long time?!
No
Im doing it. Here's why.
I'm gonna go ahead and assume that 30 million means whatever the equivalent of 30 million is in 2047. And even if it doesn't adjust for inflation, that's still a ton of money.
Second, its not like you live in suspended animation for thirty years. You can take classes, read, do push-ups, play the harmonica, etc. Sure, you're gonna get beaten up and maybe raped, but that might happen anyway.
Some people say you're giving up your chance to get married. First of all, if you're posting on letsrun you should be honest with yourself and admit that you're not getting married. Second of all, you can get married in prison (for Mr Law Degree, see Turner v Safley, 482 US 78). Charles Manson just did. Third of all, you can get married after you're fifty, and if you're male (like me) you can still procreate. And if you're not, you can still adopt. But even if all of this were not the case, missing your chance to get married" really just means "missing your chance to get divorced."
Once I got out, I would donate like twenty million, then write a book about my experiences that would sell out faster than Drew Hunter. From the book and what was left of the settlement, I'd maybe donate some more, and then buy a nice house for myself somewhere on the jersey shore. Then my life would have meant something, unlike the life of the average letsrun troll.
So in sum, if you say no you are not only uninteresting, but evil

Fair enough...

I guess your right, donating money would make a big difference, however, calling people evil for not doing that is a bit excesive, how many people with that kind of money donate that much money?
And uninteresting? No you're the uninteresting one who lives a boring life and therefor would give up, probably the best 30 years of your life.
No, the best things in life are free, and not in a prison cell.
Goofy post from someone with a law degree...ðŸ˜
I'd do it. No doubt.

How so? I would like to know....
As for the OP's question? No thank you.
Obviously I would do it. Hell, tons of people are in jail for free. And I would get paid? No brainer.

If you want to be a multi-millionaire it doesn't take that level of sacrifice and commitment over a time span as long as 30 years. Over that span, even investing something like $1,300 a month is going to get you several million by that point. If you're able to hold a job making $35-40K a year you can divert that amount every month and still live a much less austere lifestyle than you would in prison. Not to mention, not permanently ruining your ability to function in society.
ROFL Nice story brah.... too bad its way short on reality.
Let us assume for a moment that we use your wildly inaccurate thesis. And Heck I will even give you the top end of your range. Dude makes 40k a year. So after Federal, State, local tax and Fica your hypothetical guys is making just less than 2300 a month. Now YOU propose that he could put away 1300 a month and live " an austere lifestyle" Oh and before you quibble about the money left over, 7.65% (6.20% + 1.45%) for FICA and Medicare. I calculated the tax on 40k using HR Blocks tax calculator just those 2 alone are is 11,980 add in State and local tax and you are left with not much.
Assuming that you could live in 1000 a month (a ludicrous assumption but hey since we left reality land a while ago...) and you invested your 1300 a month. All the market research I have ever seen as an investment professional says that the long term rate of return for equities averages 8.2%. This yields a final balance of $1,847,202.32
Which is a nice sum of money but it is hardly the millions you suggested.
