Starting tomorrow, you spend 30 years in jail. You get $30 million for spending time in jail. You'll be acquitted of all wrong-doing at the end of the your time. Would you do it?

This doesn't make any sense. How could you be acquitted of a certain crime if you never even committed the crime in the first place? And the answer is a firm NO

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Lazy too. If you want a lot of money, go make it. Give away a third of your life for some money? No freakin' way.
Scarlett johannsen conjugal daily visits?
I'm too old, so unless Scarlett johannsen is my roomie / daily conjugal partner, um no thanks. Maybe a year for $1m doe
You need to be more specific. Do you mean I'll be by myself in my own cell for 30 years?
Or do you mean I'll be with some maniac looking over my shoulder 24-7? I'm 22 years old so I want to enjoy life, and 30 millions (if I make it to begin with) won't make up for that.
So the answer is a "no" in both scenarios.

That's too ridiculous, and clearly almost nobody would do that.
Why not make it more interesting. $1 million per year, with year long extendable contracts. Would you do it at all? How many years? Medium security.
Or $1 million per year as above, but for every year you lock-in up front, an extra 20%. So lock in 2 years for $2.4, 3 years for $3.6, etc.
Never.
If you want to be a multi-millionaire it doesn't take that level of sacrifice and commitment over a time span as long as 30 years. Over that span, even investing something like $1,300 a month is going to get you several million by that point. If you're able to hold a job making $35-40K a year you can divert that amount every month and still live a much less austere lifestyle than you would in prison. Not to mention, not permanently ruining your ability to function in society.
I'd like to volunteer someone else. Is that OK?
I would also take one mill for one year, but not if it was some kind of hard core prison with daily beatings, rape and shivs.

I'd probably pay $30 million 30 years from now to not spend the next 30 years in jail. Especially if it's $30 million in 2047 dollars.

If the $30 million were to be paid now, inflation would kill it by the time 2047 hit. I imagine it would be almost half of what it's worth now.
I'd spend 3 years in jail for $3 million but that's my cut off @1mil/year. What is yours?
If I was willing to give up 30 years of my life to get rich, I'd go about it by throwing myself 100% into some business.
I could pay off my mortgage in 58 days and start thinking about early retirement. Where do I sign up?
Ofcourse not. Thats ******* crazy. That most likely means giving up having children for just 30 million. Probably giving up getting maried aswell. For 30 million id spend 7 years in jail. No more.
I would under these conditions.
1. I would have to be 20 years old so I would get out at age 50 and still have a lot of years of living left.
2. I would want my own cell and not be in Gen Pop. My cell would have to have a tv with lots of cable channels especially NBCSN.
3. I would want a lap top and iPad in my cell with high speed wifi connection.
4. I would be allowed two 1 hour sessions outside so I could run and exercise.
5. I would be allowed 2 showers a day.
6. I would be allowed to buy real food and have it in my cell in a small fridge.
7. I would want $1 million of it upfront so I could finance my living conditions in jail.
8. I would be allowed to make purchases on e-commerce sites.
9. I would have access to internet porn.
10. Finally, I would be allowed 2 hours a day of phone calls.

Depending on your expectation for inflation, $30m in 2047 would be worth $19-$22m in today's dollars. Significantly more than any of us will make make in 30 years.
You are all forgetting working a day job for 30 years is similar to prison. And I would bet 99% of us will NOT have a net worth of $5m in 30 years.
If I was a single man with no family, I would take that without hesitation.
Frankly this is a lot better than I live right now, and I'm not locked up.
$30 million????
I've already got that.
