yeah, surprising none of them has tripped up yet
If they keep it up, they might just break 6 minutes for the first mile! Announcers were saying this gives Houlihan / etc the advantage, but it could definitely backfire if it goes on long enough where everyone is still in it at the end, that's when a huge upset could happen.
Was looking at the live splits and saw 2:18 and assumed it was the 800 split and I was like "wow they're really going for it" then realized it was the 600m split. hahaha wow
Six minute pace?! What a farce of a race.
Suck tv can't show a 10 minute race without going to commercial.
I actually don't mind NBC cutting to commercial during this race
Lucky they didn't miss the breakaway.
2:18.64 @ 1000m is world record pace...... for the mile.3:43.13 pace = 55.45 @ 400m1:51.91 for 800m2:46.37 @ 1200m if you average it the final time out

Correction, ~1:53 opening 800 and 25 mid last lap. Still quick
ThatAverageRunner wrote:Murphy and Kidder closing the last 200m in low 25 after ~1:52 for the opening 800. Not too shabby.
Houlihan was 5:40.62 at 1618 meters, and 10:19.14 at the finish, so her last 1600 was 4:38.52.

I'm starting to wonder if he will ever learn but he was a total non factor today on the last lap so it's not like tactics did him in,
Brandon Kidder put up a nice challenge to Murphy on the final lap.
So far this winter, Robby appears to just not be in top shape. Unless he can sharpen up his fitness significantly in the next couple months, race tactics aren't really going to enter into it.

He actually ran a fast last lap - but he lost the race in the first 4 laps by hanging back in his usual fashion. He needs to learn this isn't NCAA anymore - if he wants to win races, he needs to race smart and put himself in position to win before the bell.
I know I'm being picky, but he was actually third fastest on the last lap, behind both of the kids.
But your broader point still stands.
Gotta turn this off, how boring.
Did the women racewalk the 5k in 13:55?
Same old same old, kinda wrote:
Andrews waits too long, doesn't catch Wheating.
They both watch the future run away from them.
Preach. These guys have watch to many replays of themselves winning with sick kicks against lesser comp.
That's fast............ wrote:

If this wasn't a joke, 2-mile. Live results and splits are here by the way:
http://results.usatf.org/2017Indoors/Meet is wrapping up now, just m60 left.
Two miles. Not so impressive after all.
Sad, American Pickers more exciting than track nationals.
