I ran for forty plus years and rarely stretched. I would warm up with easy running and warm down the same way. Would routine stretching have avoided the knee problems that ended my running?

I wish someone had told me that long ago.

How bad will it get when you dont stretch everyday after a run? Someone you know ever do this? What was their outcome?
I don't stretch. My college coach looked at my stretches and found I was just pulling my muscles. I went through periods of doing dynamic stretches later in the day, when my muscles were recovered, but now I can never find the time.
The outcome for me is that I have a lot fewer quad and hamstring issues (though they tend to be more severe when I do get them).
I never stretch because I have read the research on the subject that it does nothing at all and may even impair performance.
I almost never stretch. I have never missed more than a day or two of training in the last 10 years. I am virtually never injured.
I tried this for a week once, I just got really tight and it didn't feel too good. I typically stretch for like 5 minutes after every run.
Is it ok to stretch while wearing a fanny pack? Runners World stretching issue didn't specify.

I haven't stretched in at least 3 years and I haven't had any sort of injury in 3 years. As long as you give your muscles ample time to warm up/warm down you will be fine. Just make sure you run with a proper gait (the key to being injury free).
I haven't stretched in 20 years and am fine.

I only stretch after workouts and even then it's a light routine touching on major muscles groups (qauds, hamstrings, calves). I do fine.

Perhaps you can get away with not stretching if you are a young long distance runner. I can't imagine a sprinter or MD runner not stretching or someone in their late 20s or older. As a former athlete and coach at various levels, I've never met anyone who didn't benefit from stretching.
I'm 46 never stretch and I could beat Alan Webb over 400. Stretching makes you floppy and slow.

When you don't stretch after runs, gradually your stride contracts until your feet virtually scrape the ground on each stride. You become an old man.
... and if you do stretch you will never become an old man. Got it.
Harsh....
I don't stretch. I'd like to say it is based on a learned opinion about sports medicine, but really I just feel tired/lazy at end of runs.
I'm super inflexible, but can't say I've noticed ever getting much more flexible from stretching. Then again maybe I haven't tried hard enough.
Sometimes I'm injured - can't say if it is the outcome of not stretching. Could also be the result of not doing any strength exercises. Or it could be my genes. Or dependent on whether chafing is involved, my jeans.
Glad to clear everything up for you.

I stretch very poorly; however, I do alot of self massaging. I massage my shins/calfs, use a rubber ball to massage my feet(i have really bad feet), and seldom use the foam roller for anything else. The only stretch i do is sit in a chair put one leg over the other and pull in my knee to my chest, the other stretch I do is for IT band. Most of my miles are easy running followed by some strides. Only do a tempo/lactate, one speed, one LSD or long progression, the rest is slow running. My stretch routine is probably no more than 10 minutes altogether. I never stretch before a run. I just warm up at a slow pace for a mile and decide if i want to run at an easy pace or recovery jog.
Do you race? How's your finishing kick?

It took me about 20 years of running to finally figure out that stretching causes a lot more injuries than it prevents. I don't stretch at all unless something feels like it particularly needs stretching, and then only very carefully.
This.
I do dynamic drills after warming up and before running. I avoid static stretching. It's too easy to get hurt or aggravate an existing injury unless you are very careful.
Agreed
I have not stretched in 15 years and I have run injury free nearly everyday of those 15 years. Some of my runs are big, steep mountain runs and others are flatter and faster. Either way, no stretching. Zero.
