How does ANY activity raise awareness or do anything for a cause? What is the connection?
Why not just say XX is a problem and get to work solving it? Why do people have to run across land masses etc. to 'raise awareness for something totally unrelated?
Maybe these guys and gals could say they are raising awareness for narcissistic pathological liars. THEN there would be a connection.
-this guy's splits are beyond ridiculous. It's doesn't even merit a discussion on his half time being legit.
-enough of these idiot charity guys. Run & race for the joy & competition and stop pretending that there is some higher purpose attached to it.
-and this effing guy was taking a HUGE cut of the donations to finance his stupid record quest? Truly disgusting.
-the work that Doubler is doing is phenomenal. I owe you a beer buddy.
-Can we get Peter Sagan & Fake Laz to follow this guy around all year and report back daily?
Exactly! It's not like no one has ever heard of these charities. This guy is just bringing awareness to the fact he needs funding to run races.
*nail on the head* guys. "I want to raise money for the children...." meanwhile the truth is, "I need money and people will donate to children's causes..." a big ol' pile of "look at me."
That Glukos promotion........... "Natural born athlete and philanthropist." LULZ
It seems that there is a little more to this story. Mr. Easter has really done himself a disservice by not really offering any explanation to the accusations.

Yes he did. He clearly explained that the course was flat.
The record itself is not even remotely impressive. A half iron every other week. Big flipping deal.
Explanation of Running Pace
In his email response to me, Jason does not claim a timing issue resulted in the crazy 1/2 marathon time.
As far as the splits compared to my last 70.3…..at the NC race, the swim was with the current and the water was more than 20 degrees warmer! Also, I had major cramping issues at NC that I did not experience in Palm Springs….not to mention, the run course at Palm Springs was completely flat and NC was not. All of those factors affect an athlete of my abilities. I never claimed that I would try to place or win any of these races, I only claimed that I would attempt to complete the races. All I can say is that YOU must be either uneducated to races or you must be one heck of an athlete to not be able to understand this.
Jason, there's a lot of us who don't understand.
Another thing hard to understand is the 85%.
Mr Easter seems as legit as the bunny named after him.

agree. such a soft, and nearly meaningless record. And expecting others to pay for it under the guise of charity is shallow.
now the Jester, who ran 40 100's in a year, is a super stud.

maybe so, but at least he's raised your awareness.

Awareness of what? That there is a growing trend of people who decide on random lame sporting goals that they want to achieve for themselves but can't afford to do them. So they then find ways to have other people pay for them to achieve their goals. That the trick, it seems, is to get people to fork over their hard earned cash to the person in the name of some charity fundraising - when really what they are doing is not donating to charity but primarily paying for a guy who is terrible at the sport of triathlon to do a bunch of triathlons.
Why did I need to be made aware of this? What does it achieve?

what you really need to be made aware of is sarcasm on the internet.
also, website and facebook are gone. im assuming that means the attempt is over.
nice work doubler

I knew what you were doing. The whole "raise awareness" thing also makes me pissy, it's so damn meaningless.
Sorry for using you as a platform to vent, wasn't aimed at you.
Yes, nice work Derek.

It is if you look at the admission process for I'm branded halves. Even the $200k/yr tryhard demo would need a loan to enter this many
Looked on Instagram as his FB and Site are down. Handle is @thewishrunner
There is some data shots on there, but nothing close to 10+ around even 7:30 pace.
*are some* pardon me.
Even though he tried to do a good job with the propaganda surrounding this charity based record attempt. Doubler, MI has done an outstanding job and entire thing seems to be entirely a "you guys pay so I can play" situation.
Also when you look at his gear, setup etc., in the pics compared to his actual abilities, it looks like he just wanted to play dress up. Then he tells D. Murphy who has actually trained and ran marathons that "he must not be an athlete" etc.. Ridiculous...
If this guy does another, I cannot wait to follow along.
